1" Eps And 2 Sheets Of 1/2" Ply
I'm sure most of you have heard of this system of installing a subfloor in a basement, however I have never used it. My question is to anyone who has tried this- has there been any issues with eps compaction over the years?, The idea is awesome, I just worry about long term durability.

Re: 1" Eps And 2 Sheets Of 1/2" Ply
I think I would use XPS instead of EPS. Unless you need borate treated foam. How exactly does the system work? Put foam down and then double layer of plywood with seems overlapping? does the plywood just float? I like 2x4 sleepers with foam in between then ply and then finish floor.

Re: 1" Eps And 2 Sheets Of 1/2" Ply
We have done it 3 times with no problems at all, we got the idea from an old article Fine Home Building mag. The oldest one is 3 or 4 years old and we have not heard of any problems with the foam crushing. I will say if you have a basement leak it would be a bear to remove
