Re: Walk In Tub

I put in an American Standard wlak-in tub and thought it was very nice, thick acrylic had a standard 1 1/2" drain. There is a tubular frame around the thing that was handy for getting through the window into the bedroom then into the bath room.
It had jets so it was a little tricky figuring out where to put the faucet handles and tub fill and hand shower put nothing too bad.
Cracks down the road? I doubt it.
Andy.

Re: Walk In Tub

There are models that use a pump to quickly drain the tub. I guess people don't want to sit around and wait for the water to drain.

I guess they could always open the door!!

Re: Walk In Tub

Does anyone have any links to suppliers? I've wanted to start offering them to my older clients; I just haven't found a supplier yet.

Re: Walk In Tub

like 5 years ago we had one put in for a customer. It was drop shipped to their drive way. took 3 guys to carry it in. Not sure what brand it was but the thing wasnt cheap. It is what she wanted, she was 94 at the time and still is using it to this day. it only had about a 2" curb before the door, so it was a long time sitting and waitng to fill and drain

Re: Walk In Tub

Just installed a master care walk in. It's not too hard to install. Overflow and drain already connected. You just need to run indirect waste to a floor sink. Supplys are 3/4" hose thread. It's big so it takes about 5 minutes to fill to over flow. We had the electrician wire a heat lamp above it to keep customer warm while tub is filling. One the to be carefully about is the door only opens when the drain is open, however if the tub is full you can open the drain and instantly begin to open the door. Good idea to put at least a 4" floor drain near it. User cannot operate controls wihin the tub because they are out of reach while seated. This one was used in a memory support unit of a retirement home.
