Re: Reasons Not To...

One other thing UPC would require a vent for that trap, before it ties to that laundry line.

There is, just didn't take any
pix over at that end cause it
looks too normal.

ADD: Everything was kosher,
inspected and passed before we left.
Then 6-8 months ago they got
the new furnace.
That guy changed everything
to save buying a pump.

Re: Reasons Not To...

No the vent needs to be between the wye and the trap it serves, what I see is against my code and the upc code.

Great.
It was okay with the inspector
5(?) years ago?
At least he signed off on the permit.

Yeah, I thank you for the responses
Like I said all I know is it passed
before this clown got there.
There are vents @ 5 or 6'
on each side of it, one for the washer
and one for the bathroom, plus
the kitchen sink ties in somewhere
right near there as well.
That's why I pay you guys,
I just want my sticker.

Re: Reasons Not To...

That code is out of date, weird once a code is adopted is should be the code in use, not an older version.

It ain't out of date until the AHJ says so. There are times I commend them for that, and times I curse them for that.

You just answered your own question.

Nah. "Authority Having Jurisdiction." Local authority always has the option of adopting the latest codes either partially, fully, or not at all. And of course, they can add even tighter regulations if they feel like it.

Re: Reasons Not To...

Oh but they have to follow IAPMO International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials they are the ones who say what code is in use, not the Authority Having Jurisdiction, AHJ only enforces the code.

No, this way they can keep
tacking on revisions, and repealing
sections, until you can't frickin'
read it anymore.
That's why I can never make any
sense of it.

"Indiana Plumbing Code: (675-IAC-16 IPC)
Based on: 1997 Uniform Plumbing Code with Indiana Amendments, Effective July 30, 1999.
"

From the state government web site.

For real? I'll confess to being a "practical plumber" as opposed to a 100% specialist who is up on all of the regulations (we don't have licensing here). I do know that electrical codes work the way I stated.

That makes the AHJ no more than a beat cop where plumbing is concerned.

Re: Reasons Not To...

Now even if a code is adopted, state and local officials can amend to the code, they can add but never take away from the code, they can make things stricter but never less then what is in the code.
