Lead Slate

Hi thought someone might like to see some lead bashing, Garry made this in the front porch today, no bench or anything while it was pouring rain, all out of one sheet of lead, send more pics of leadwork if anyone wants to see

Re: Lead Slate

That is really great. Lead is such a nice material to work with. I understand why the Romans loved it for plumbing - too bad it is poisonous.

What does Gary use - a ball peen hammer? A rough chisel? I like the term "lead bashing" I never heard that before but I guess that's what it is.

Hi Karma, couple of pics of dressers and bossing mallet (c)
garry cut two holes in the lead ( sometimes called pigs head, this is rhyming slang as used in some areas , a Riddick Bow is a crow, A deep sea diver, is a fiver,I will let you guess what a septic tank is)
he then knocked it up with the bossing mallet etc

Re: Lead Slate

I'm pretty sure that folks with all that lead flashing don't have their roof water going into a cistern, huh? Neat stuff...

Re: Lead Slate

Hi Mdshunk, I have never seen any set up to collect water in a cistern, afew people catch the rain water in a barrel or two, by DIY type system, but no builders ever set anything up to catch water, we flush the toilet with purified drinking water, seems a waste
