I do have one small 'critique' though, if I'm seeing correctly, - - on the middle picture of post #3, - - the 'tumbled marble' backsplash (near the bottom), - - it seems like you used a different color tile around the corner rather than using the actual 'cut-off' of the same tile.

But don't take it too personal even if I'm right, - - 'cuz in reality your work looks so damn good, - - I was determined to find something!!

Here's a real similar pic of my kitchen backsplash.

Nice stuff, rspain... In your shower, is that a mud bed, schluter drain/pan, what? Also, on the stairs, what's the nose? Rich.

Rich,
In a shower I always do a mud bed consisting of a preslope, shower liner, mud curb with pan impedded, and a final slope. The nose on the stairs is one of schluter's edging profiles.

With that reaction, - - it's probably hard for you to 'ingest', - - but a 'fluid' transition (in any type of work), - - is preferred over a 'start-and-stop' look. If you're only going to shoot for 'so', - - then that's as far as you're ever going to get.

I've never been absolutely 100% happy with any job I've ever done, - - I'll always stand back, take another look, - - and ask myself "What could I have done better"??

The answer to that question (and there always is an answer) gets taken to every job thereafter.

P.S. In that same pic (middle picture of post #3), - - look at the 'grain-match' of the two center drawer-fronts, - - you can see they're cut out of the same piece, - - now that's what I call FLUID!!

Tom R,
I wasn't going to say anything but that outlet cover on your backsplash is gaudy. All joking aside though you are correct about a fluid transition.

rspainhower,

Funny as hell you should say that, - - you are NOT alone, - - my wife hated them damn covers from the first time she saw 'em (so for punishment I put them in the dining room and the new half bath, too), - - and also, a while back when I originally posted this picture somebody 'blasted' me pretty good about them, - - somethin' about "Where'd you get them cover plates from, Russia"?? Can't remember, - - I think it was either 'Glass' or 'Flor', - - (yeah, yeah, I still owe 'em one for that)!!

Anyway, - - don't mind me, I'm just jealous,- - you do absolutely beautiful work!!

To give a 'critique' of my own backsplash, - - that section in the pic, anyway (post #6), - - I have too many 'darks' in a row (one area on each wall), - - though I purposely try to 'pull' out of different boxes as I'm working, - - I obviously wasn't paying quite enough attention to the 'color-sequence'.

I'll shoot for better next time.

Thanks, 7, - - yeah, it's an operable-octagon. I 'built-out' jamb extensions for the 2 X 6 wall.
