New entry floor

Entryway tile in a whole house renovation we just finished:

Slate field, marble border, granite corners.

The powers that be can delete this if they wish, but it's got to be said, even if it's stating the obvious-- this guy's elevator ain't quite makin it to the penthouse.

Chris, I didn't see your second set of pics. that's one sweet bathroom, man.

Funny thing-- every time I see your name I've got to chuckle a little bit. I've got a nephew whose name is Chris Wright. Good kid, too.

Chris, How does your customer come up with a design like that? Is that part of your service? Is it such a high end home that there is a professional designer involved?

It is really sharp. I'd love to have something like that in my home.

Not to take away from the tile work, but I LOVE the accent pieces.. Like the door handles and style/color of the doors, the wall lights, the squiggles on the balusters, the converter and spout in shower area, the OVERALL color palette chosen here.. EFFIN WOW!!!!! Very Impressive. This is def my style.

Who was the designer/decorator?

Thanks for the compliments. The craftsmanship I can take credit for--but I can't take credit for the design.

These two spaces were part of a whole house renovation, which included four other baths, various living spaces--plus a spa room which I posted to another thread. The only spaces not touched were the kitchen and master bath, which we had already remodeled in 2004. The entire project was designed by Matt Harris. I have worked with him for over 8 years and he is extremely talented.

Working for him, I've had the opportunity to build some amazing things and work in some great houses. If you look at my website, you'll notice his design credit on a lot of my work.

Designers come in all shapes, sizes & abilities... They're a lot like realtors--80% of them aren't worth a nickel. Of the 20% that are left, only about 5% really understand how things are built.

Working for a bad one can make you want to chuck it all and go bag groceries. Working for a good one can teach you more than any book or trend magazine ever could.

That looks outstanding Chris. Like floordude said, that one light tile stands out a bit. Another thing I noticed is the front entry door. Why not black or graphite like all the other doors?

The craftsmanship is freakin unbelievable. So is the design. Nice F'n work.

You know I never noticed that tile until his comment. The slate catches the light differently when you're standing over it and I never noticed it until he pointed it out in the pics.

Now it drives me F-ing nuts everytime I walk in there. My guys have had to stop me twice from digging it out & replacing it. No one else has noticed it, but I'm sure I'll end up taking it out. So thanks a pant-load floordude...

The interior doors were original to the house & were painted white. The front entry set we had custom made from Mahogany (the black dots at the mullion intersections are ebony).
