My First? Tile Job
This is a 1000 sq. ft. basement with 5 seperate rooms and the owner wanted a continues line throughout all the rooms. So this is my layout. Not sure if there was an easier way. Feel free to post input.

Re: My First? Tile Job
There's really no easy way except measure, measure, measure and then measure again. Then dryfit it like you did and go from there. Looks like you nailed it, Great looking job!

Re: My First? Tile Job
It would have been easier and faster to have established a starting line and grid out the floor from that. If you don't know how to lay out a floor on a grid I suggest you learn. If learned you can have three four installers all working in different rooms meeting in the middle and everything lining up and you can skip those spacers.

Re: My First? Tile Job
Ditto on the grid lines. Once you have the grid layed out, you can see the shape and size of every tile. Start and stop anywhere you please. Great for doing the closets first so you can work your way out and still be right on.
BTW in looking at your 2nd 'ready for grout' picture it looks like the 7th tile in the 5th row is a little high. Looks great, specially for a first time job! Rich |
