Master Bath, Just completed

Quartzite floors. The walls are chip-faced porcelain, with an accent of glass liner and matchstick stone inlay.

They do really like it. This is actually part of the guest suite, which was the original master bedroom/bath to the house.

Last year, we converted an in-law quarters section of the house into their master suite.

That is beautiful! Just curious on the floor, do you dry lay it out and move pieces around to please the eye? I love the random look and variation, it must take some extra skill to pull that together.

When the HO asks, we always joke that all the pieces are numbered...

There are times when you have to step back and make sure there's nothing strange going on...but for the most part, it's pretty random right off the crate.

Depending on where they're quarried, slate & quartzite can vary a lot in the quality of guaging and squareness. There was more work in making the layout look decent with mostly out of sqaure tile, than in making the color look random.

Not my tastes, but the workmanship is top notch. I would like to see the transition between the floor tile and the mosaic. The granite top could have a thin band of molding under but then I would be splitting hairs. I like the cabinet doors on the toilet side. How many guests will take a peak inside?

For what looks like a pretty high-end bathroom, it appears to have a fairly cheap shower door. It looks like a pivot door you could get at Home Depot. Not to be critical. The tile work is out freakin standing.

Beautiful work, I like the knee-wall cabinet between the toilet and the main, seperates for the privacy feeling while remaining open. Not to keen on the paint color but, thats just me. Keep up the good work!

Two regrets on this one.

1 The shower door.... It was the homeowner's choice to go with a stock door (since it's the guest bath) and they are regretting not spending the few extra $$ to get a custom.

2 The bench top & wall cap... The original choice was a cesearstone which I think would have looked better than the granite.

We've been working on this house for 3 years--in about 5 phases.

Chris,

Awesome! It's amazing what can be accomplished when the customer gives you a BUDGET!!!!
I cringe when I go to do an estimate and the customer starts off saying, "Got these tiles real cheap at Home Depot I need installed"

Ain't that the truth!
I'm working on a total reno of an 85 yr. old semi detached that an older gentleman inherited. He's basically given me carte blanche to "do it up nice" in his words It will sell for over 500 grand in the spring.

Chris, beautiful work. I'm curious, what substrate is under the wall and floor tile in the shower?
