Thanks Bill, I love the emperador stone. Light and dark. The dark is what I used in my own home for the inlays and such. The inlay on that shower wall, started as a simple little rectangle and spawned into a life of it's own. I saw your thread with the hex just now, nice work to you also!!! Man that must have been blowing your mind towards the end of the job. Might not be my style, but I know what it's like to do jobs for those excentrics. Just do what they say the best you can and get paid right? ha
P.S. I'd like to see a picture of the sandblasted emperador, that's new to me......interesting.

I'll probably take some unfinished pics this afternoon and post them here over the weekend. This one's emperador dark that I did a few years ago, though:

I love that stone. I have spoken with a few importers latly that say that it is either gone or very close to it. I had alot of trouble finding it about 2 months ago. One of my close friends is an importer here in Florida he ended up getting some for me, but it's very tough to find at least for the guys down here. Nice work though. I'll try to get another one up on here later of some floor shots.

Really nice work Bill. I have never seen it sandblasted like i said earlier. Very different from the regular polished marble. May I ask where you got that done, or was it the HO that got it done. Also where do you get the Emperador Dark from, and have you heard about the supply running low. Again very nice work, thanks for sharing, nice to see someone else whom takes pride in their work!!

Ya know, I KNEW you were going to ask, so I brought home a label off of the box!
As for where we get it from-- my understanding is it's coming from an importer up in Quebec. As for the Emperador dark, that we can get locally thru a stone warehouse.

It is. It's a health spa for a 5 star hotel in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Inside that door is what they call their "experience shower". I don't know if you've ever heard of Kohler's "Water Tiles", but that's what it is-- pretty much a human car wash. You have two jets to either side of you, and then a 12x12 panel above you with 4 separate showerheads. Have you seen that commercial where that guy's taking a shower, basically getting dowsed, and then comes out and lets the owner know his shower's adjusted? That's what this is. Then, on the other side of the white framed glass door is a steam room. This is a quick look in that door:

I havn't been around for a few days, I've been super-loaded with moving and all. Thanks alot for the label on the stone...I know a few guys that would hide that just for themselves. I have to say that it was great to see some more of your work, I started to lose hope that most people did not care about quality as much anymore....maybe I've been in Florida for too long. This is a big reason I am going back to Mass. For some reason it jsut seems people take more time to do things right up there, and PLEASE anyone is the south that takes pride in their work DO NOT TAKE OFFENSE I know you are out there and that was NOT a stab at your work...it's meant for the "other ones" I won't get anymore specific, just here in my area I am so frustrated. Anyway I am rambling it's 2:00am and I got 2 hours rest last night. Just wanted to come check this out as I remembered today i had asked about the sandblasting. Again thanks for the tip Bill your work is great! Who knows maybe when i get up to Mass I'll get pull a monster job, and if the timing is right and you could use some work I would be honored to have you on the job. I've checked out a couple of your other pics, and it kindof makes me think you don't get slow very often anyway.

I almost forgot, Bill I was just on a job (just a small quick one) before I leave, and I was installing what they call "Tan-Brown" stone from India I was told(which by the way is really great looking stuff). The install was being done on a tub deck steps and surround almost exactly like your first pic with the Emperador Dark. I was wondering how was that deck?......because the one I was working on was fricken TERRIBLE. I mean it was so bad I could not fit the stone under the lip on one side, and the other side would have had at least 3in" of mud pack. I had to get the guys back out which I hate doing, to rip the tub out so that i could fix the deck myself, but the tub needed out anyway seeing as it was also bogus. I always tell them not to set the tubs, because of this reason, and I like to have the tub set over top on my stone since I'm going to have it level anyway it makes it easier for me and the plumbers or whoever is doing it. Anyway thought I'd share my hellish experience and see what you went through up there. Every one of the other builders I sub through would have never let this happen, this hack I was just bailing out one of my buddies, but I shouldv'e just refused after walking in the door!
