SampleJust trying to learn how to post pics. Anyone having trouble posting pics via attachment? Maybe I have it figured out now. Hmm, if I can remember how I did that! Last edited by boman47k; 01-08-2009 at 03:38 PM. Reason: oops |

Re: Sample
Same wall and ceiling after. Look close and you can see where I still need to patch a small area on the ceiling. I mistakenly grabbed plaster repair when I thought I was grabbing spackle. Similiar containers and I was in a hurry while looking for the spackle in the shop since I was out of mud. A piece or two fell out while I was painting. So the patch is plaster repair witha final layer of spackle. Both may have been in the cold too long.

Re: Sample
Some kind of embossed stuff thats been up for many years. Somewhere around 20 years I guess. Got lucky with the wall adhesive. It came off real easy. I washed most of it off as I removed the paper (border).
Btw, that is one coat for the most part over the paneling with no primer for the color change. Got curious and decided to try Glidden (Evermore?). Since I want to completely redo the room this year at some point, I felt I could experiment with the Glidden. Actually, I was somewhat pleasantly surprised with the wall paint. And so far, no complaints at all with the ceiling paint ( also one coat but over a Kilz oil base primer coat. Hey! Lot better than Behr! Last edited by boman47k; 01-08-2009 at 09:52 PM. |

Re: Sample
Were those smoke stains on the ceiling? Did you use Zinsser bin Cover Stain for that??

Re: SampleQuote:
Not sure about those stains. We both do smoke and the stains would show when I wet the rock after it was scraped of the texture. The texture at been on it I know for 30 years. They did not show on the texture. Normally I wash until no more stain shows. This time I decided to see if all that cleaning was necessary. It seems to have covered okay with the oil Kilz. Not sure if that is accumulation of nicotine or adhesive, or latex or what in the old popcorn. At one time someone had a kerosene heater malfunction in the house and things got sooted up pretty bad. P.S. I do like Cover Stain, but I felt the KIlz was fine for this as I have used it for the same thing before. Besides, it is cheaper.
