I need help quoting primed walls - Any one please???

Hello every one... (I'm new to this site and love it already)

I've being working in the painting business for few years now and never had to give prices as I was asked today... (please help)

I have to provide a quote for almost 17,000 sq. ft. residencial home in Greenwich, CT - I usually give my prices from sanding all the way to finish paint. Unfortunately for me, this GC asked me for only a quote on Priming, for now.

My question is... how would you price only primer? would you do it by sq. ft.? if by sq.ft. - how much would you charge per square? please help me - I really need to get this job, so I don't want to over price it or look tooo cheap.

Thank you all,
Cecy

Oh no...not again...

If you've painted, then surely you have primed. Use your melon and price accordingly.

How much does your primer cost and how many square feet or gallons of primer can be installed in 1 hour by 1 painter?

Also tell us your overhead percentage, if taxes will be charged on labor, will taxes be charged on material, the amount you wish to markup your material and labor, how much you pay a painter and I will give you a unit price that you can use.

I charge $.54 SF for latex Behr brand, $.72 SF for oil. Add $.34 SF for brushing or $.12 SF for a pro install with the Wagner power roller.
Square yard price is lebinty thwee fitty each and Square price is one lebinty twee fitty if the homeowner lets us use their drop clothes.

Umm...if I gave you a price for doing this job and you get it I want 15% off the top.

Then if you finish and actually make money send me another 15%.

Cool?

Andy.

Are you a professional? Do you know how long it takes to roll a coat for a given area? Do you know how much your primer costs and how much coverage per gallon? Do you know what your labor costs are? Are you rolling or spraying? Do you have to do any site protection? How much do you want to make? What is your overhead costs? What is your labor burden?

Nasty ABSOLUTELY NOT

Is it possible to estimate for you given the diversity of labor costs and productivity without knowing what they are

ABSOLUTELY NOT

However you are providing the evening's entertainment

In the other hand, I appreciate SILVERTREE and DAVIDNTX who have gave me some kind of idea on what to do.

Hey naptown... I know what it takes. I really don't have to explain myself any way, to you or anybody. I thought this site was to help and talk about the business. Aperently I was wrong. Is like all of you "Man" think you can do it all and better than any body specially women. I just asked for a simple help and all you have done so far is attacked me and disrespected me as a woman. Yes, I am a professional, but it seems to be that you people aren't.

WOW! another user that can't seem to find the "Search" button.

Maybe it should be changed to "google," think more people would use it?

If you wanna talk about buisness, maybe you should figure out quotes for yourself. I can't remember Bill Gates on a fourm asking how much he should charge for Windows?

Can you put a number down on a piece of paper and give it to a potential customer? Of course you can, so can we....So how are we better? Were not, take a look around and not down the street, there are plenty of woman entering the trades where i come from, its encouraging and some have amazing talent.

You asked a simple question, that has been asked over and over again, use the google button at the top of the page, your no different than the other 100 people that asked this same question. If this is hurtful to you, i really wouldn't want to see you on site.

Calm'er down about 10 notches, just sit down figure out what exactly you need to do, and put the nose to the grind stone. If she fly's, she fly's, if she dies, she dies. Its not that hard.
