Recent Completion In Atlanta

Here is our recent remodel that is completed. The house was used as a church for 25+ yrs, the original church burned down in the 80's. This house was the parsonage to the original church.

A total gut job, many rotted sills along with a host of years of termite damage.

Here are before shots!

VERY NICE

One question. What's with the door by the fireplace in both before & after pics. It's obviously supposed to be there. You can tell from the flooring around it but what is it for/to?

The doors in the after picture will actually be for sliding barn doors on the office. Still waiting on the hardware for them.

The before picture is just an old door that was leaning against the fireplace, it got tossed.

LOL - it needed something at the base, so it got the sock look. You'll also notice the post has a notch at the top, this was a 4x4 that was in the original framing. This post was from a door opening. Notched for the header. The heart pine veneer on the island is actually milled 2x4's from the original house. The floating stair treads are reclaimed from the house as well.

Awesome!

I especially like the heart pine floors. They look like random width??

then transition to oak in the kitchen, seems odd. were some floors existing?

The 1 1/4 white oak was original. The heart pine is reclaimed from an old sock factory in north GA. The entire 2nd floor is the heart pine. Just had to be a sock factory, I wish they came from somewhere a little more interesting than that!
