Re: My Biggest Project Yet
Swear, mutter, annoy the wife and kids. All fun things.
I've actually been lucky and had a few small jobs I did during the last rain, got nuthin' right now tho.

Re: My Biggest Project Yet
Nice job, man! The edges look well put together...I know nothing about stucco but it looks like you did a fine job of making the wall/roof transitions waterproof.
Bummer about the rain...I hear the US east coast is gettin' a lot this summer too. Not fun for folks who work outdoors... Mac |

Re: My Biggest Project Yet
Well, I finally finished this thing off today. Lost approximately 3 weeks to rain
![]() Pressure washed right down to stucco as 90 percent of the coating on it had failed completely. Filled the cracks with polyurethane caulk. Replaced stucco on both sides of the dormer, lower face of the dormer and above the porch roof. Replaced two upper windows with vinyl sliders. Replaced trim around two windows. Rebuilt door opening on porch. Caulked all windows where stucco met trim. Primed all wood with oil primer then 2 coats exterior latex. Stucco got 2 coats exterior latex. Installed trim to simulate old roof line. New shutters, $600 worth of cedar shutters (apparently no one makes wood ones out of pine anymore, vinyl or cedar and she wouldn't have vinyl) that I promptly primed and painted ![]() ![]() Just some clean up and minor details to finish off tomorrow. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: My Biggest Project Yet
I did everything on this job myself except the stucco (I prepped it but got a stucco guy to put it on) and replacing the 2 windows.

Re: My Biggest Project Yet
Shane - what brand, sheen, type of paint did you select?
I am looking at a similar job, not as large, so any insight would be great. |
