That really lets the cabinets on the side stand out and the dark stone surround makes the firbox look more in proportion.
Funny I just took out a white mantel and cabinets and installed dark stained replacements....

I would of liked to of carried the columns up to the ceiling but the homeowner decided not to...Thanks for the post

You can always talk them into a overmantel in a year or two...you need to frame that flat screen t.v.......yes?

they decided to run the flat screen on top of the mantle...ended filling the interior of the top of the mantle with all electric conduit running from the attic to through the stone...maybe...i would like to
