Church Roof letter
I posted this in Roofingtalk and thought i would show it here too.
While taking off an old lead roof off a church for replacment i found a letter pinned to the decking from the oridginal lead plumbers dated and signed! underneath the letter was a 1/2 penny coin cut in to the deck and it was dated from the year 1911, they talk about drinking Sunday areated waters which we gather to be beer as there is a pub(bar)as old as the church just across the road!
Any way i thought i would share this with you.
Cheers
Dave

As I've always suspected, roofers are cheap, a half penny, could have left at least a 5 pence coin. That is cool, I usually find garbage and old buried beer cans, did find a glass pyrex baby bottle once, did you leave a letter and coin of your own for the next roofer in another hundred years?

That is way cool, are you going to put it back with your own letter?

I was subbing off another roofing company when i did that roof who in turn wernt the GC, they drafted a letter up on there headed paper and yes we did put a coin back with the year on and a copy of that letter.(2008 as it was December last year)
As for roofers being tight, you know us well Micky! im sure a half penny coin would have got you a beer in thoses days!
Cheers
Dave

This needs to be on the news or on a blog. You should be able to drum up some publicity off of this.
Just got to find an angle and someone who cares about it

Hi,
I sign all my work. I put a bird on every roof and gutter job.
There is a copper job. I have a letter under the roof and a penny is soldered to the surface.
I am not allowed to post pictures yet. I do have an album in the photo section if you want to see them.
