Your Favorite Shows

If I had to only get one channel I think I could get by with the Discovery channel, it used to be the History channel but the Discovery channel has had so many good shows lately.

Let's see what everybody likes...

Pick your top 3 favorite shows.

Re: Your Favorite Shows

I think Discovery should produce a comedy called 'American Crackhead' - I'd watch it.

And how 'bout Seinfeld reruns!? (get 'em off TBS and the local yokels) No matter how many times I watch them I still find myself actually feeling embarrassed by George's idiocies.

I think it's +90% for real. I worked for a guy very much like him for about 5 years. Big bark, kinda' scary, but as good as gold if you were a performer. He'd chew you a new one for scew ups but give you the shirt off his back when you were doin' right by him. I enjoyed working for him.

How about the one where the hooker gal leaves George tied to the bed and is takin' off with his money and his clothes, - - and George says, "Wait a minute, will I ever be seeing you again"??

Re: Your Favorite Shows

jm, Paulie gets away with everything. I grew up as #1, in jr.'s position, my youngest bro was Paulie. I was railed for taking too much time to make something perfect (which was expected) while my younger bros. were out screwing up, having a good time and it was all in good fun.

Wait, Paulie is Jr., right? Maybe I got them mixed up, I don't watch that often.

Anyway Sr. has his schedule way too tight, no allowances for the screwups that are destined to occur. I used to build custom bikes back before the Rolex Bikers and understand the routine well.

Re: Your Favorite Shows

I think Paul seniors temper is made for TV. If he gets all worked up over all that petty stuff for real, he needs to find a different line of work. You don't see Jesse having temper tantrums over childish crap, he gets the jobs done and moves on. - - Mythbusters and Monster Garage rule! - -

Teetor you may be correct, I usually refer to them as Jack and Jerk the Off brothers.

Re: Your Favorite Shows

BTB, HGTV is killing me! I went out on a kitch remod the other day and was going through the qualifing questions...

Q#1, What is your budget? A. $5,200.

Q#2, What made you think that you would get an entire new kitchen for $5,200? A. I saw it on HGTV.

All that she wanted was new cabinets, granite countertops, undercounter sink, SS backsplash, tile,............

I'm really spoiling for a fight with HGTV.

I got yer back!!

All these friggin home shows are corrupting america and their expectations, folks wanted a bathroom gutted and put back together in 3 days...takes that long to get rough in inspection done round here with these guys.

Everything is picture perfect with a light fixture swap budget and minimal time...homies still dont relate to "cant believe everything you read/hear"

Only good thing, gettin calls and mettin new folks The shows get their imaginations working.

Re: Your Favorite Shows

No kidding, Extreme Home Makeover has to be the biggest culprit. People see that show and think/say "they built a house in a week, why can't you do my job that fast" - LOL.

Of course, they don't realize all the plans, permits, ordering, scheduling and the like are done months in advance. And never mind there's probably 500-1000 people working that they NEVER see!

I took a project management course a few years ago and the instructor showed us a 1/2 hour video of a house that was built start to finish in 24 hours. It was put together to show the importance of a well designed plan. Every task for the house was planned out to the minute. Thank goodness there isn't a TV show about that every week - we'd really be in trouble then!
