Are You Into Foursomes?

Many of the contractors I know are avid golfers. As for me, I can count on two hands the number of times I've played. How many of you guys are crazy about chasing the little white ball? Does it help your business?

I am crazy about it.

I have taken numerous ex clients out for a round of golf.

Flogging? Can't hurt. I've gotten some business from golfing buddies - both directly and through referrals. Most of the architects that I know play golf, and its certainly a pleasant way to discuss business. The good part of the golf/business connection is that you don't really have to be a great player. The vast majority of golfers never break 100.

I'm saving 'pasture pool' until I'm too old to hunt or fish. Can you golf in camos or do you have to buy 'golf clothes'?

Camos are good - particularly during hunting season. It makes a round of golf more, uh, challenging.

I love playing Golf with clients. It's a great way to have good conversation without the OFFICE feeling. yet still talk about business.

Re: Are You Into Foursomes?

Now this is a thread topic right up my alley...

Personally, I golf as often as possible - somewhere around 70-80 rounds this year. Now, that does include 3 rounds in Puetro Rico in February and the 9 rounds I played during my annual trek to Myrtle Beach in March. This year I was able to golf in every month except January and December - not bad for living where I do. Aside from alternate weekends, I always build in 1-2 "rain days" into every job and this year we had virtually no rain so those rain days turned into golf days

As for how golf helps my business? Well, it helps me keep my sanity by allowing me to completely forget about anything but the task at hand. Thinking about nothing but my golf game for 4-5 hours keeps me sane.

I did golf with a few clients at the end of jobs this year too. It was a nice way to socialize and thank them for their business.

Re: Are You Into Foursomes?

After 8 on most courses, you can just keep playin till you fall down. And since it really doesn't get fully dark, just twighlight, some just keep on playin.

I need to get sick of my motorcycle. It is taking up alot of fishing and golf time. I don't see me getting sick of it anytime soon. I am lovin the midnight sun rides.

At your own risk - someone might not see you and won't yell "Fore" and you get hit by a golfball.
