you get what you freakin pay for

out to help an HO this morning, install a transition strip between laminate flooring and the carpet (closet) install a couple of bifold doors etc.

I just had to take a picture of the baseboard - they hired their tenant downstairs to put down this laminate floor- small closet, 4' x 5'. I had to take up some of it to re-install a new piece, he left a six inch gap between the carpet and the laminate. Couldn't figure out why he just didn't add one more piece? then put in the transition strip.

it was the baseboard that really got my attention - wow. Turns out that he was apparently drunk at the time. He came home when I had just finished, ya drunk maybe- but definitely stoned! at 11 A.M??? geez.

don't know what they paid him but it was too much! oy

I re-coped the BB, and then shimmed it out at the bottom so it would hide the gap in the flooring. Couldn't talk her into just buying new baseboards.

A couple tubes of caulk and some paint and that would look mighty fine.

From the looks of it, he tried that tactic.
However, in this instance, a little putty and a little paint didn't make this hack what he ain't.

have you checked the batteries in your sarcasm meter lately? Besides, it appears that you have been proven right, since from what I can tell, he tried to fix it with caulk, and just made it worse.

Yeah the caulk alone will not suffice. One needs to follow a good elbow deep caulk job with paint all over the wall and floor to distract from the trim. Its the ole hack 'n caulk coverup.

Speaking of pigs my bro told me the only thing you cant cover up is stink and girth. You can ignore the girth if the lights are out when they're all called baby.

I'm pretty sure some of them figure on a tube of caulk and a quart of paint per corner.

Lightweight vinyl spackle is what the "Pro" hacks use. It won't ooze out like a 3/4" caulk bead.

There are good landlords to work for and bad landlords to work for. I have worked for both. Some will spend the extra dollar and add value to their property, some don't care and want out as cheap as they can period. I rebuilt a door that had been kicked in numerous times 15 years ago...she saved $35 if I recall and still had an old door......All they want is their rent and offer NO amenities

Haha you can extend that right over to some HO's to. Had a famous rot repair how the pedestal sink didnt fall through into the dining room i have no idea. This thing had to have been rotted for atleast 10 years she wanted the bare minimum done. Fix the rot put self stick tiles down. There was like 2 inch caulk beads in the corners of the tub, looked like someone put it on with a shim shingle. She had home depot come and replace a 6' sliding door, the ends of all the floor trusses were completely gone, the installer said he couldnt put the door in covered the hole with a sheet of plywood and left. Been like 2 months still hasnt got it fixed. And shes a school teacher for christ sake aint like shes on welfare.
