You Define Newbie

"What do you consider a newbie on this site?
Do you go by join date?
Do you go by the amount of member posts?
If member posts, what's the point to where you would not consider someone new?
After 10 posts, after 20, after 30?
Or is it simply, members been here a month (has 3 posts) not a n00b anymore?

Not a question directed to the mods, but to everyone....

Overall, I look at post count of 25 or better as no longer a newbie.

Re: You Define Newbie

Post count is a poor indicator; some of us just like to type. I would class a Newbie as someone who posts a question that has been asked a couple of times before (or a hundred), without reading the old stuff.

I'm not sure. I think it is a (when they fit in thing) that they are not a newbie. Even at over 500 post I still feel like a newbie.

Re: You Define Newbie

I think you are no longer a newbie when you've tipped the scales more towards answering questions and less towards asking them. I'm not sure why I should care if a member is new or old anyhow.

Re: You Define Newbie

Ummmm....I don't want to offend a newbie with a constructive yet honest reply.

I just don't know for the life of me, what this site considers a newbie or not.

I wanted to respond to a member's post, and kinda say something in the lines of "Wtf were you thinking?"

But their post count is in the teens, and I decided against it.

Damn... I guess I am a newbie... Tom has not yet made fun of me. I guess I stay below his radar or something.

Why should it matter? Just give your reply.

Yeah, a non-asshole would bite his tongue rather than say such a thing. There's no constructive benefit to doing so, regardless of how new or old a person is. You must be young and prone to foolish speech. Either that, or you're old and still speak foolishly.

Re: You Define Newbie

There is a criteria but I forget what it is. It should be when 'you get what the site is about'.

You've gotta know that Pel is only looking for an answer so that he can't be accused of flaming a newbie in the future when he acts out the way he does. He's a fool sending us on a fools errand to define "newbie" for his own entertainment.

md, scrutinize the reply. Maybe it's too cryptic.

Yeah, I know. You're trying to give him a dose of his own medicine. It won't matter. He's a world class fool, and adds no value to any thread in which he has ever participated. I doubt very much that he's very successful in business at all.

This is one I have issue with, and I am sure others will disagree...but I do not like to research old threads just because someone says we been over that before, and I do not mind topics coming back up because, IMO, new members lend more information, and the gist of the topic can change...we may learn something new..and I feel it has more class then just telling a newbie "we been there before dummy, go search for it". If you really don't want to plow the same field again, just ingnore the thread and let the new guys work on it.

I think a newbie is only in relation to new on the site. Nothing more or less...not the post count...just since they registered....I see a lot of members who may not have 30 posts but they have been here 2 years or more.

Anybody with less posts than me. Teetor and me are the only non-newbies. Everybody else is still a F.N.G.
