and yet, I can't wait to get back to work

LOL ok, yesterday doing a railing/baluster/newel post install in a condo. 4 floors up, had to rope up the long bits over the balcony.

no cover on the balcony, so watching the clouds, feels like rain (saw/compressor on the balconyno room inside)- anyway couple hours along here comes two guys and a beat up dewalt saw- the HO hired them from HD to install some baseboards, and a backsplash.

Of course, they forgot their tape measure - ok, so I carry a couple of spares. So then they want me to cut back the horn of the false treads that I'm installing, seems that they want to put a bit of trim up on the "stringer" (drywall) ???????????? I say, uh no I've already custom cut each one.(the stairs are variable in the run!!)

So I says to one of the guys, U gonna set up outside on the balcony? for doing your copes etc. I get a puzzled look (man I wish I could'a filmed this)

He says we just cut miters - o000kkkkkkkkkk so how do you do your outside corners? again with the slightly puzzled look - he says "45 deg cuts"

alright, so I'm feelng pretty good, so I explain what a cope is and show him quickly on a bit of scrap. The light didn't come on, so I know that I was preaching to the blind. Figured what the heck, I really like it when guys show me new techniques, or a better way to do stuff. I figured that the probably are paid a set amount by HD so the quicker the better.

So they left, the lady HO says to her nephew I really like those young men, they are so personable.

So now I know what it takes to make money! charm the HO and just hack the work in! how did I miss that?????

meantime I managed to get a small bit of sawdust into my eye (using an upcut blade in the jig saw) sorta ignored it, cause mostly those things just kinda work out after a bit.

it didn't.

crap- so about 4:30 I'm going blind, can't fit anything right. Pack up- Lady HO says you can leave your tools here- I say no, you've got other trades guys coming in tomorrow and I'd feel better if they had free access to their own tools.

So drove to Emergency, lucked out- got it into see the Dr within an hour! feeling crappy, drove home - dinner and a beer

and yet, I can't wait to get back to work I gotta be nuts. Gotta wait for a "rain free" day to continue on the railing job.

I can see!!!!!!!! goin out to get a new pair of safety glasses today.
