Winning The Lotto

This is always a fun topic. You just won the big one! You're going to claim your $30M prize as a lump sum and, after taxes, you'll walk away with a cool $15M. What are you going to do?

Re: Winning The Lotto

In this order..
My parents and in-laws would all have funds set up for the aging process. My son's college expenses would be paid in full in advance. He'd finally get a real hemi motor with a nice muscle car attached to it. He'd have a trust fund set up for life.. a Richie Rich type fund. (Ok, he's spoiled...I'm guilty)
I'd buy land and build a new shop and furnish it with everything I could think of.
Ken would get his big yacht he dreams of.
And if any left, I'd buy my house by the lake with waterfront property.

Nice to dream atleast.. lol

Yeah since my yacht would be $1000 a month for slip fees and it would be tough to dock it at her lake house.

That's easy!

Buy an oceanfront cottage on St. Bart's and and a sailboat, and sail, sail, sail. Nothing more, nothing less!

So, you think I should splurge and get a powerboat, too?

$15M works out to about $10K/day in interest. If I wanted something for $30,000...I'd buy it and wait 3 days till I bought something else. This is how the rich do it. Nothing costs them one red cent.

That's what ya call, 'Independently Wealthy'. You live off the interest and never touch the principal.

Re: Winning The Lotto

I would just get on a plane and go somewhere nice. Take a month to figure our what was next. This would all happen even before I claimed the prize if I could stand it.

Re: Winning The Lotto

Lets see.... Pay off my debt, buy land lots of land. Build a nice house and fill it with all the toys. Have a lake built on the property. Build a gun range on the property. Stock my gun supply, ammo supply. Donate a good amount to my church. Hire some employees and continue business as usual (except I wont do the stuff I dont like )

Re: Winning The Lotto

I'd probably throw about $2 million in a range of mutual funds.

Then, I'd probably buy some real estate to rent out and generate cash flow and grow in value. Maybe a small office building in a good location or a strip mall. Warehouse... something like that.

Spend most on hookers and limos, and the rest would go up my nose.

No, seriously. I'd buy a large chunk of very rural property, and build a dream house/shop. Spring fed lake would already be there. Quit working, and find a hobby or two.

Re: Winning The Lotto

Sounds like most of you would re invest your money. I don't think I'd think about that for a long time. I'd buy a nice piece of ocean front property, build a beautiful home, take a few vacations, get some good R&R, and hire a full time nanny! Oh yeah, and get some plastic surgery! I'm not going to say which kind!
