Re: Wife Wants Out

Divorce is way too easy. Marriage doesn't mean anything anymore.

You and your wife said "Til death do us part". Well, how about it?

When you go before the judge he should put both of you in a UFC styling fighting ring. Battle it out to the death. Bet the divorce rate would go down dramatically and folks would be a lot more careful about choosing their spouse.

One day when I'm King of America...

Seriously though, I've been divorced. My ex-wife ran off on me. She gets 16.8% of my gross pre-tax income as alimony. It really bites. I have to factor that cost into every job I do. If I get a check for $10,000 she gets $1,680. Before I buy the material, pay taxes, pay my overhead, etc. It's brutal. Sometimes she makes more than I do on jobs if I figure it wrong.

Get your finances in order, get her out on her own. Think of this as a job gone wrong. Be as impersonal as possible, try to keep it professional. Watch how much she gets.

Women have quite a bit of power in these situations. She can claim you were abusive, beat her, get her friends to back her story. In that situation you're hosed.

Best of luck bro.

WHAT?!?!?!

Translation:

"I would like to continue to be a deadbeat and milk you for as long as I can until I can find some other schlub who's willing to be my sugar daddy. But in the meantime can you provide me with free room and board? I don't want to be a responsible human being at all. I want to be like an ungrateful little teenager. I also want to run around town and diddle whoever I want."

This woman clearly has little respect for you or herself.

Bro, the first rule of thumb for relationships is if they did it to someone else, they'll do it to you. In other words, if you got involved with her as "the other guy", it was only a matter of time until she found "another guy".

The best thing for the both of you would be to cut it right off and tell her to get the F out. Change the locks. Never speak to her again.

If you agree to what she wants, then you deserve everything you get.

Re: Wife Wants Out

Let's not forget what to do in the future to avoid another mess....

My Ex wife was also motivated by material things....it was impossible to work hard enough to satisfy the money needed to make her happy. And of course she complained that we didn't spend enough time together.

My new girlfriend is the polar opposite....she doesn't demand a thing...and it's been almost a year...so I am sure she would have shown some true colors by now.
She thinks the best things in life are free...and we spend tons of time together, and I work less.
It's perfect.....
Search for a woman like that, and reap the rewards....

Materialistic = crap

Dump the other like a bad habit...get through the crap and find another opposite of her...

Re: Wife Wants Out

Hey Huggy bear pro, don't you give her alimony off your net income? and not gross? you really should look into that... I don't pay alimony but if I did I would think it has to be off net income.

And what are you complaining about anyway, didn't you lie to her!? or did she make you swear off all women?

Re: Wife Wants Out

My attorney and I screwed up. Plain and simple. It should be net, but on his advice I signed a divorce settlement that states she gets 16.8% of my gross income until she dies or gets remarried. I know, I'm a contractor and I should have read the bloody contract more closely. Neither one of us caught it.

This may very well be the most ridiculous stuff I've read here yet! Why would you even think to stay self employed, & how!!!??? And who was your lawyer: her brother, dad, or new boyfriend?

Re: Wife Wants Out

Best to start divorce right away.
My Ex started a credit card with me as the main person and her as an authorized user.
completely legal if we were married...and we were...but I started the divorce in Jan and she did this in Feb. Totally illegal.
Fraud Dept is currently working on it....
Good thing I did it when I did.

Divorce is NASTY!

Re: Wife Wants Out

I just add the 16.8% into my overhead. It gets figured into every job I do. I call it the stupid tax.

Her lawyer was a divorce attorney from Lewiston. Most of his business is divorces.

Where I screwed up was using my regular business lawyer. He doesn't handle many divorces. Mainly contract and business law. Figured since I already had him on retainer I may as well use him. My thinking was how hard could a divorce be?

Re: Wife Wants Out

taking from gross should be illegal, with material costs, overhead, and labor your lucky to get anything at all. Bob, get another look at your situation, I'm sure you can get it fixed ... or just say you miss spoke and that will be the end of it ... but you know me, I'll hound you until the truth comes out of the closet!

Re: Wife Wants Out

Key word is should be illegal. I think in Oregon it is. Idaho doesn't have that staute. Alimony or child support can be figured from gross or net in Idaho. Child support can go up to 22% of your gross or net income.

Stop remodeling the house and when you get it appraised, it will reflect the current value of the house, they can't appraise it on what it might bring IF it was finished.

Oh, she's on the mortgage, as well? That's the thing to do, then.

If not, the only thing I'd be buying her is a one way ticket to See Ya' Later Land.
