Who's Going On Vacation?

Ah...a fun, easy going post. All this talk about how long this, how much money this, what percent of this...blah, blah, blah.

Who's going on vacation this year and where? We're heading to San Destin Resort in FL for a week

Not me, can't afford to go away or loose any jobs. My vacations are year round on those days when there is no work

wood, enjoy your internment. There is nowhere safe there outside of the compounds/resorts. If you have to leave, travel in large groups. They will tell you this when you get there. I remember it's better days. Watch what you buy, woodcarvings may be blocked incoming due to bugs.

Kansas in June and then onto Chicago area for a few days. Show off the baby to the family. Maybe a REAL vacation later in the year to someplace warm in the winter.

I have heard that.....but I am to knot headed to listen. I am sure my boss will have something to say about that though.... she always does. I am not a beach guy, so day trips will be required. As much as sitting at the pool bar or on the sand sounds like a good time it gets old real fast. It could be two sticks and a mud brick, if it is architecture, or constructed more then 5 years ago I am on that tour.

Re: Who's Going On Vacation?

Just came back for the eastern caribbean, great time as usual.

Don't get too worked up about safety in Jamaica, I was there last year, it's f-d up for a place to spend your hard earned money for a vacation for me because I'm not the type who flys in and takes a taxi to the resort and never leaves the resort until it's time to go home. But you can certainly get around Jamaica and do other things, you just won't have the 100% safety you find in other islands of the Caribbean, it's more like being on gaurd all the time, but not like you will be defending yourself 3 times a day.

Re: Who's Going On Vacation?

Vacations,

Orlando in May.

My wife and I are still debating on where to go in June for our 10 year anniversary. I want to go on a cruise and she hates being on boats. We had a great time in Cancun on our honeymoon but she does not want to go back. She wants to go the Atlantis resort but I have no interest in paying $2500 and then having to pay for all sorts of extras.

I hear ya, I was in Venezuela in the late 80's, a guy was grabbed and thrown in the backs of a truck at gun point, as I paid for trinckets 2 feet away.. that was some a crazy hoilday...... there was the sound of pigeons as our plane lifted off....Coup.... Spent some time being chased by a black bear on a camping trip in Northern Alberta. That is why the Boss makes all the critical decisions when it comes to play time for me now.....

We were in Play del Carman at Christmas, Good time, the beach kept washing away though. The hurricane really did a number on the sand displacement. Talum, Chicken Iza, both good day trips.....

That is why I like that area, the day trips. The last time we went it was $60 for both of us for most of the day trips--food, drinks, fun and sunburn included. I like the charge me up front for everything and don't nickel and dime me all day long concept. Plus I love to bargain with the street vendors, 20-25% of their asking price is what I pay.

Do you actually remember any of the day trips? Ours started with mixed drinks followed by more mixed drinks, then the boat took us somewhere, we ate and had a few drinks, saw some stuff, got on another boat that had more drinks..................... Not even sure if the boats ever left the harbor.
