Whats Your Lunch Menu

What do you guys usually do for lunch or bring for lunch?

I used to bring a little mini George Foreman grill and make lunch but that got old....I would grill some Salmon or Chicken and have some Potato salad with some Sourdough bread.....it just seems like it took forever but I am sure it is still better than driving somewhere and healthier.

Now days I usually just bring leftovers from dinner, or a salad with bread and fruit. Or the neverending sandwich.

So whats in your lunch box usually....any cool ideas you wanna share?

Re: Whats Your Lunch Menu

Very seldom do I eat lunch. I usually will just relax for a few minutes with coffee and a smoke. One of two things happen after I eat lunch and am doing physical work. 1) I will want to take a nap. 2) I get a little heartburn or a full feeling and it's tough to be physical.

Re: Whats Your Lunch Menu

Whatever the lunch special is at the diner closest to where I'm working around lunch time.

There's merit in getting away from the job for a little bit, and eating a warm meal in a warm restaraunt. Sometimes, I'll call my wife ahead of time, and she'll meet me for lunch. Pretty nice.

Usually a V8, water, and a couple power bars. That's usually when I'm on my way home and the job is done.

I generally don't eat lunch, but when I do, I agree with MD, the nearest diner for a warm meal and a break away from the jobsite. Also like to meet the wife when I am in the same area as her. Very plesent break from work.

Good time to stop for materials if need them, since I'm already out.

Same here. It helps to get away and depressurize for an hour. When the kids are out of school she will bring them out too, reminds me of what I'm workin for.

Lunch makes me lazy and sleepy so generally I refrain. Once a week I will take a client or one of my subs out to a nice lunch and then go home for a nap.

Same as MDSHUNK. My wife is also self employed so we eat at a different restaurant every day. It's nice.

My favorite is the ribeye sandwich and fries special at least once a week at the corner pub.

Re: Whats Your Lunch Menu

Same as MD, but without the wife. Taking 45 minutes to sit down, read the paper and defuse usually is pretty worthwhile, plus the 15 minutes of drive time back and forth allows me to make the 5-6 phone calls I usually have to make.

One of my guys brings a microwave when the job site is a vacant house or addition. Kind of nice right now with the weather to have a hot meal. We'll be working outdoors for the next few weeks.

I too like to meet the wife or friends when I can.

NO! Eating my breakfast and lunch at 4pm is one hell of a feast. Then my dinner time is around 11pm. It is much healthier to eat several small meals during the day.

Re: Whats Your Lunch Menu

I often skip lunch. But i perfer to have it. I'll tell you what though, when you eat breakfast at 630 am i am starving by 1030! If i am on a big job i tend to be more likely to go to the local diner or pizza joint. But if i am on a couple day job i seem to always pack a lunch. No matter where i eat lunch, i always bring some fruit and some other food to munch on during the day.
