68 in PA.

No REAL control in NYC. It is a matter of "How wide open are the Windows" in the Winter.

What temp. you have your T-Stat set at REALLY depends upon the type and brand. Got an OLD STYLE "dial" your temp is NEVER gonna be what it says.

Got a Digital-Programmable Head Unit, it depends upon the differential setting, and what comfort level you desire to be at.

The "Digitals" are more precise and will cause your system to actuate and de-actuate more often. Great for temp. and Electrical/Gas savings but HORRIBLE for the system overall.

I have mine set at 68º tonight. The temp is currently 28º with a wind chill of 18º.

Cook up some soup, put on some sweats, watch NFL films, and quit whining!!

I generally sleep in 2-4 hour increments. I can not explain it. When you see me gone in the Evening I am either out "On the Town" or asleep. I will be gone again soon only to return at the break of the day! I am just that way.

Oooooh.......

Thank You! Remember.......I am THE POST WHORE! Gotta get my acceptance!

Re: What Temperature Do You Set Your House.

My wife will turn on the A/C if it is not cold enough so she can then build a fire to warm it back up. Of course, when the fire goes out and no one checks the thermostat prior to bed I wake up with wildy fluctuating temps. This morning, for example, it was in the mid-50s since it is a nice toasty 26 outside.

Really can't wait to see power AND gas bill for this month.

I agree with MALCO, 68 Degrees for me, down to 60 over night, 72 would be like a sauna to me.

Re: What Temperature Do You Set Your House.

68 to 70 when were home and then my 14 year old daughter turns it up to 80, I turn it back down again. 65 at night. With 3 girls in the house we wear out the therostat controls. When I get a new furnace I will get a programmable thermostat with one of those locking covers.
70 in the summer.

Re: What Temperature Do You Set Your House.

I just got a programable honewell (for full elec. heat pump) Winter i set the temp and 63 from bed time to 1 hour before waking, then 71 for 2 hours while we get gone then 58 during day (just to keep it off, it never drops that low inside during day) till 5 back to 70 till bed time.
Summer cool at 68 night, 72 morn, 85 day ( it never comes on even on 95* day) then 75 evening. Unit acually runs more at night in summer than day, brick house
We never use the cool and heat feature. The preset 3* temp from heat to cool is too close and not effecient if you ask me.
Need to send Myth Busters an email to test this one in a controled enviroment to see if im acually saving any money over just leaving it at 68 year round. Impossiable to test at home without getting a year or two average each way.

Check the Manual. The "Differential" is USUALLY programmable.
