What Do You Like To Eat That Others Think Is Disgusting?

I noticed in the grilled cheese thread that some of you like some disgusting things on your grilled cheese samiches

However, I've noticed that everyone likes to eat something that everyone else thinks is disgusting

Those of you thinking "I don't eat anything weird", trust me, there's something in there that the rest of us think is disgusting

My question is:
What do you like to eat that others think is disgusting?

I love my mac and cheese but I have to have them with Van-Camp pork and beans but after cooking and set on the table I mix them together on my plate and eat.

I also mix my corn and mash potatoes, makes eating the corn easier.

Thomas's or Pepperidge Farm English Muffin, toasted
Real peanut butter (Smuckers) on both halves
Thick sharp cheddar cheese sliced in the middle
....with three small slices of crisp bacon on there

Serve with Tator Tots, nicely browned

As a beverage I'd suggest a Coffee Milk (coffee syrup in a glass of milk)

I have grossed a few out with this. My FAVORITE lunch is cottage cheese mixed with a sweet vidalia onion relish, served with onion crackers. Also I prefer my french toast with a little butter and salt - NO SYRUP for me!


You reminded me when I was part owner (a short lived experience) of a bar/restaurant, one of my partners wanted to have a special one night a week of Sloppy Joes and Tater tots. We never did do it.

I like peanut butter and (green)olive sandwiches, The wife puts applesauce on her mashed potaotes. I always knew she was a bit odd, but hey, she married me didn't she.

Um....

Scrapple ("pahn haus" to some) and pudding
Hog maw ("Seimaaga", to some)

All three are Pennsylvania Dutch staples.

MD, I had the opportunity to try some 'scrapple' while working in WV. When I asked, I was told it was 'everything but the oink'. That was a deal breaker for me. What exactly is scrapple?

Leftovers from the hog are boiled (head, legs, organs, eyes, etc.), the bones picked out and most of the fat skimmed off. The resulting "meat" is pressed into a brick with some spices, and it's sliced off like you would SPAM, and fried up. People eat it with either ketchup, maple syrup, salt and pepper, or country gravy. If you can get over thinking about what it's made out of, it's pretty good. It's served at every restaraunt around here at breakfast time, and every butcher shop and many grocery stores carry it. It's typically a breakfast meat.

Oh, I forgot about this one. Even my wife thinks it's gross, and she eats everything. Onion sandwich. Sandwich bread with sliced fresh sweet onions and butter on the bread. I'm not sure what the origins might be for this sandwich, but I think that onions go with everything.

Yeah, thats what I thought. I might try it next time, but depends on how stable my gut feels that morning.

Now, here's a tip for you. If you are ever in the deep south, and offered a helping of brunswick stew, think twice. Especially if its the real deal. A lot of fakes out there, but the real homemade kind is pretty gross.

Ditto everything MD said as to where it comes from. The taste reminds you of normal sausage without the sage or seasonings. Ken loves it, I put it in the "eeew nasty" catagory.


Off the wall things eaten around here...

Ken likes marshmellow fluff on peanut butter sandwiches.
Dad likes Miracle Whip salad dressing on peanut butter.
I like hamburger meat, cream style corn with melted velvetta cheese together as a cassarole type dish. Or green olives mixed in my tuna salad.

Yeah, you should at least try it. It's not even an acquired taste. People like it right away if they can bring themselves to try it. It is very good, because it tastes like a very mild sausage with a little bit of pasty corn filler taste. If I plunked some down in front of you at a breakfast meeting, and didn't tell you what it was, you'd gobble it all up without a second thought.

So, what exactly is Brunswik stew?
