What To Do When You're Sick
Just got sick with a fever as I woke up this morning. No work today, but supposed to work tomorrow. I've been sick on the job before, but every type of medicine out there hasn't worked for me.
Any advice? I don't care if its medicines, home remedies, or whatever..just want to feel somewhat okay for tomorrow.
Symptoms:
Fever (around 100 even), runny nose, soar throat, headache.
Thanks in advance.

Contact has been the only thing that has worked somewhat for me in the past. I need something stronger though!! Maybe I'll up the dosage and go to down on some beers like you said...and then pass out on the job and get fired lol.

Sounds like you have a cold. Lots of rest, plenty of fluids, and it should be gone in about a week.
Obviously, aspirin, Tylenol and the like can help knock the fever down a bit and maybe mask some of the misery. If I have the luxury of a day off with nothing to do, I'll often just curl up in bed with a couple of extra blankets on (no aspirin) and hope the extra heat helps the fever "cook" the bad guys out of my system. Seems to help a fair percentage of the time.

I poured a 30 x 40 finished slab once with same symptoms and 102 deg temperature. Once I sucked it up and got to the job it seemed the harder I worked the better I felt, although I crashed hard once the work day was over.

I have worked sick or hurt more than once. It's tough to get through it but responsibilities are responsibilities. Man up and go to work.
On the way home pick up a pint of Rock and Rye. Pour a tall glass, table spoon of honey a shot of lemon juice and go to bed. You'll sweat all the impurities out.
When the body needs rest, it'll shut down on its on.

x3 I too agree. Work harder, sweat more of it out and crash for a nice deep rest.

Thanks guys. I know I'll have to "man up" either way (this is not going to be gone tomorrow no matter how much I OD on meds). I usually am able to suck it up for a while, but I tend to hit a wall at some point. I guess I'm not as tough as all of you lol.

I have tried the working your butt off method and the lazy lay around until you feel better method. Stick with working you butt off and crashing method. You will still be bringing in the cash, keeping you muscles working and you will sweat out the sickness. You go laying around for a week you will have more aches and pains from not working and an empty wallet.

Last Wednesday I woke up feeling a little under the weather. Went to work for about 3 hours and chest and arms felt real achey. Went home, laid down and napped for an hour....and woke up to a full blown heart attack. Just saying to be aware of what your symptoms really are. Believe me when I tell you, you dont want to go thru that.

, not a good way to start the day! Hope your better now. I was thinking of the sore throat, fever, puking sort of sickness that can be worked through.

Funny,
I heard of the same remedy, but also wearing a wool cap and only one sock.
Something about forcing the fever through your body and out one foot?

I can see the hat but one sock? That's a new one on me.
I guess it makes sense.

I made it through my shift by the way. It was only 6 hours today. Once every one else gave me crap for being sick it was enough motivation for me to get the job done with my mouth shut. This was the sickest I've ever been on the job, but it wasn't as bad as I thought.
I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep tonight though!

It's never as bad as you think.
On another note, I would have told you to stay home. I don't need someone infecting a whole crew with a virus. Unless it was outdoors, then you passing it on is less risky.
