Haven't watched it. The previews led me to believe it was a bunch of PETA freaks. I like Deadliest Catch and Ice Truckers.

Re: Whale Wars
Caught it for the first time last night.
I'm rooting for the whalers. When they started beaning the kids on the inflatable in the face and heads with large nuts and bolts they were throwing at them I pretty much had to chuckle. The whalers spray fire hoses off the sides of their boats at the kids, the kids stay just out of range, so when the whalers lured the kids in closer by keeping their hoses spraying on wide patterns for about 30 minutes and therefore getting the college kids to think they were staying just out of reach of them only to be surprised when the whalers adjust the pattern down to a fine spray and doubled the reach and blew the kids glasses off his face and F him up pretty good I pretty much had to cheer for the whalers out loud. Uh... Josh got blasted in the face pretty bad with some water, I think his eye is bleeding. Permission to bring him back? Over.

Re: Whale Wars
I haven't seen it yet, are the whaler's native? If so, I vote for the whaler's completely, why do people try to change other people's way of life?

Re: Whale Wars
From what little I saw of it, these kids are playing with their lives, they are completely clueless at the dangers they are letting themselves be put in, they try to cross the bows of 8000 ton whale ships in ice choked seas to toss home made prop tangler in front of their path (which the whale ships just run over and shred). One kid climbed out onto a chunk of ice about 6 feet across to free up a line from the RIB, this is in icy waters in the middle of winter miles away from the mother ship in nothing but rain gear. If that kid went in he'd be lucky to survive the experience losing a toe and being hypothermic.
I think on the RIB with 10 college kids on it, all together there might have been about 6 months of actual life and survival experience between them all. They are an accident waiting to happen, a complet cluster F from what I saw. Pretty much like sending a naked child out covered in peanut butter to scare a grizzly bear away. |

Re: Whale Wars
What really sucks, when the dumbasses fall in the water, the whaler's will have to end up saving them. Talk about irony!

Re: Whale Wars
I thought they were stupid doing that until i watched the whole last season. It is sad that they are still killing hundreds a year and there's an estimated 500 or so left worldwide and they are using loop holes in the law to catch them. They now say that they are catching them for flesh samples so that they cant get in trouble. I ain't no tree hugger but they have zero respect for the whales and couldn't care less if they become extinct.

Re: Whale Wars
The people on that boat will hopefully be killed by a giant whale. Everytime they go on a 'mission' the people on the boat forget to turn their radio on. Come on survival of the fittest!!

Re: Whale Wars
Maybe some things are meant to become extinct? I don't know anything good or bad about whales, it just would not matter to me if I never saw one again. Now, maybe I am wrong, and this would cause an imbalance in the ocean.
I have to think we are lucky dinosaurs became extinct or we might not be here today.

Re: Whale Wars
There's a big difference between nature making something extinct and humans making something extinct. Present-day extinction rates are as much as 1000 times greater than the background rates have ever been. If we carry on like that then we will be the only things left on earth.
I learnt that from discovery channel |

[QUOTE=Mike Finley;726385]Caught it for the first time last night.
I'm rooting for the whalers. ![]() Now, that is just wrong. You would like to see extermination of whales? I find that hard to believe of any decent person( and I believe you are) Sure they are stupid kids but at least are doing something they believe in and not ending up as a traffic statistic or in jail |
