Re: We're Burning Up

this is a pic taken from my deck at sunset last night.

for the last 10 days or so, we've had hazy sunsets, local weather forecasters are saying it's from the smoke from the alberta forest fires.

Re: We're Burning Up

I can see a haze at eye level about 90 yards from me right now, and here's a pic taken a couple hours ago :

We've got nothing burning nearby, but the smoke rolled in thick this morning.

Re: We're Burning Up

The fire in Jasper, Alberta quadrupled overnight. I've noticed a slight haze outside of Edmonton. It's so dry, it's worrying.

Re: We're Burning Up

Still no end in sight. 88 new fires in the southeast.

Fire in rock creek destroyed 30 homes and obliterated a provincial campground on the kettle river, campers barely got out with what they were wearing. Numerous vehicles and camper trailers burnt.

Highways are being closed all around.

Here is the fire service pic of the 'fires of note. I am about where the black arrow in the black circle is in the lower right of the pic.

People are beginning to be a bit on edge, panicky even.

I am sitting on my deck with my sprinklers going.

Are you still working or is everyone more or less on fire watch?

Re: We're Burning Up

I'd love a few days of rain. We've got them everywhere around here. One 10 miles north, another 15 miles south, many more all around us. I'm getting tired of this s***, I wanna go back to Seattle where it rains all the time.

I'm working for now... if this keeps up and the phone keeps not ringing I may have to go fight fires.

Re: We're Burning Up

Any end in sight yet? We got a little rain the other day, but there was more lightning with it.

It's not as bad as 1910, but it's as bad as I've seen it. The air quality has been between 150-210 for the last couple if weeks.

This was on a day they were calling the air quality at about 160-170.

Re: We're Burning Up

It's been so bad I can't even work without an N95 mask or I get a headache. Trouble is, the mask is so tight it gives me a headache too. I can't win.
