well WE thought they were nice neighbours

oy! so here in our sleepy little burb street, not a lot happens - sometimes the ATV guys on the next block race by, that's kinda fun.

so the other night, look out the window- 8 cop cars! and a dog, the whole works. They went into the house across the street, did the big search for a few hours- wow.
Turns out it was a grow-op! (bad guys buy houses and turn them into hydroponic marijuana farms)
Man they sure suckered us! nice couple, 20 ish, and a brother. They had regular new paper delivery, a guy did the lawn every other week - seemed friendly enough- said hi to everyone etc.

I saw a 3 ton truck there that afternoon, figured that they might be moving- well ya they were moving all right! LOL

We talked to the Hydro guys next day when they were dis-connecting the house. I guess they had a pretty sofisticated set up- false walls, charcoal filter system etc. I never saw them doing any construction!

I don't know who own's the place, but now he's got a huge amount of work- drywall, electrical, plumbing, floors, and chimney! its all posted on a notice on the front window. I'll try to get a pic of that notice later.

They did have at least one person in custody, not sure if they got the rest. About half the time the hydro notices a huge increase in power usage, and they notify the police. Other times its other bad guys ratting them out. Sometimes they are just stupid! LOL I don't think so in this case, they drove beater cars.

The only thing odd was that on days that you could sprinkle the lawn, they'd put their sprinkler in the middle of their driveway, so as to water the lawn on both sides, then they'd come home and drive right over it LOL

so I guess we're gonna get new neighbours!

Laurie.

That's pretty awesome. Around here its meth labs and the growers buy properties in the boonies and put in ponds to facilitate the excessive water usage. The pumps used for the pond keeps going and assists with keeping the plant life watered too.

There was an episode of Holmes on Homes that he remodeled a grow house. It was utterly amazing at how they hacked up the house. Mold was everywhere because of the high humidity environment they created. Not to mention how they tapped into the electric service before the meter and had 240v lines run all around the house for the grow lights. Ventilation was pretty sophisticated too.

Sad to say that seems common place for those kinda neighborhoods. See it on the news here alot.

Also in our working middle class neighborhood 2 drug raids by DEA and 2 other rental houses slinging drugs and one busted for theft of 5 houses in our immediate area.

3 block radius of our house. I was working down south and found out later from the postman!

A few good crops will pay that off in a year.

I have a buddy who lost his house and the exact same thing happened. Guy moves in sets it up, neighbors where none the wiser. Got busted. 600 plants in the house, sheetrock busted to get water moved around. All they had was a couch and a TV. Every square foot was covered with plants. My buddy found out about it and went by. He had intentions of buying it back but, not now. The cops pulled all the plants and left the pots, house was destroyed from all the moisture.

That really is a messed up thing to do. If you want to grow the stuff for $$$... whatever. But that is truly a selfish process. Grow it outdoors in a secluded area, or, mix it up with some some other plants that grow high (on your own property). Damn, I wish that stuff was legal.

Ok, so I got more of the story. Seems that my other neighbour saw the whole thing go down.

11 cop cars, couple under cover guys. They marched the (4) bad guys out, one with a gun to his head!
I tried to get a picture of the "notice" pasted on the front window, but its behind a bug screen so its not readable.

And they got the truck that left a few hrs before, six blocks away - I figure that the cops were watching the place for a bit. Also had two mounties on the back fence all night long.

Strange, the lawn cutting guys that did their lawn? they drove a little chevy blazer with a small trailer. The day after the take down, here's that blazer, with a couple of very tough looking guys, (undercover) at the house, doing who knows what - I guess that's one way to spy on the bad guys eh?

the notice's are a revocation of occupancy.

I haven't seen them back to cut the lawn since! LOL

the house owner showed up yesterday, couldn't get in- ten minutes later here comes a locksmith - sign papers, pick the lock. Man the look on the HO's face told it all - he's in for a sh*( load of hassle to fix that place up.

Kinda makes you wonder why he didn't check on the place every few months..

Boy the places I see!

I have pics of a lot of the houses with growing facilities AFTER the people have left and the dang police won't even come to take the seeds and the leftovers...I attached a pic of the "plants" growing at a farm and the local sheriff won't even fool with it..5 acres worth...NOPE won't tell anyone where since there has been a lot of "trespassers" LOL.
OK can't get the pic to upload except as an attachment.
