Weapons

I have just about finally decided that I am going to purchase a small hand gun. At least before they take the right away from us anyway.

I have to collect money for a client from a parking lot and while I would rather have someone with me, sometimes I can't. Also I have to go into some questionable neighborhoods so I want to have some kind of weapon besides a hammer.

I went to a local shooting range today and shot a 9MM, 38, 40 and ? ( a revolver just a little larger than a 38). The salesman suggested a 38 hammerless as I want to be able to put it in my briefcase or strap it to me. I kind of like the 9MM because of 12 shot verse 5 shot on the 38.

I have been approved by local sheriff and have the gun purchase permit. I want to purchase the weapon and then practice and then get my concealed weapon. I really plan on keeping it hid and secured except in certain circumstances.

Any suggestions?

Re: Weapons

The .38 would be nice because its small and easy to conceal, but like you said small capacity, the 9mm or a .40 would be much better for you, more knock down, more rounds, and if you will normally have it in your brief case then the size wont matter as much as the punch.

You can buy a $120.00 Lorcin or Davis. I would not. Or you can go the real route, spend $600.00 +, and buy a Sig-Sauer, http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/Sho...x?categoryid=1
or Heckler/Koch, http://www.hk-usa.com/products.html.

Re: Weapons

As far a capacity, if you can not take down an aggressor in one, keep him down in two, you need not be discharging the weapon until you have PROPERLY learned how to use it.

A 14 round firearm is nearly twice the weight. Your want knochdown power? .45!

Buy the firearm with need and ease of use and not with your knuts in your hands. It is not about how big or how much, it is about effectiveness.

There is nothing wrong with bigger and better, but not for a first, and not for a service piece.

And just a note. Never fire a gun at a Human unless you intend, without reservation, to KILL him.

Re: Weapons

Do you really think it is worth shooting someone and possibly killing them over some money? Why don' you just meet your people at a crowded Starbucks or similar where it is safe and nothing can go wrong? Sounds kinda strange to me.

Re: Weapons

Salesman showed me a small S & W 38 for $399. He told me that the 9MM would be about $500. They were about the same size but the 9 is thinner and more capacity where is 38 is wider. I could fit it in my front pocket completely but the butt stuck out of my back pocket. I also figured I could have an extra clip vs trying to reload that thing.
I hope I never have to use it but when I shoot, I want to stop anything. He did show me a 9MM Ruger. It was real small and it was only a 7 shot. Little to small to me. Maybe for a pocketbook.

But I do love Guns Norrrrrrrrrrrrm! Not N.R.A. card carrying sort of love, just shooting every once in a Blue. It is a nice sense of power.

Re: Weapons

Problem is that I have to go get money out of a pay station for a parking lot downtown. I can pull out quite a bit of cash out when I do it. I even try to go more often just so it would not be too much. I also vary the time that I go. If I can get one of my guys to meet me there, then we do it together. I have been doing it for over 2 years without any problems. And I plan on no more problems from here out but unfortunately there are some out there who do not agree.
I agree, they can have the money but nowadays they shoot you anyway. I am just trying to beat them to the punch. Trust me I do not want to shoot anyone but if it is going to be me or them, well...then guess who.

Re: Weapons

Saying this first: I don't wanna have to shoot someone and hope I never have to,but if its between him and myself guess who's going to win.

Now why would I shoot someone over taking money from me??

1st. I worked hard for that money, I'll be darned if I'm going to let some thug wanna be take that from me.

2nd. If I let them take it, that just makes them more brazin for the next victim. And if that victim refuses they may not live to tell about it.

3rd. Yes, it is great to stay out of bad situations(and I always try to do that), but there is such a thing as the wrong place at the wrong time. Even someone in a crowded place can be a victim, or all in the place can become victims.

why do most people have smoke detectors even though they don't wanna have to use them???? Just in case

Re: Weapons

You can get a Rossi 357 mag shortie for about $180.00. You can use .38 bullets and .357 in this weapon. Its very easy to conceal. With the hollowpoint bullet any thing you hit will go down. This is my favorite shortie.

Re: Weapons

My everyday carry weapon is a Glock G20 in 10mm, it lacks the knockdown power of a .45, but it holds fifteen rounds.

Re: Weapons

North American Arms, 22mag. This thing is so small you can carry it in your hand and conceal it. You can pick them up for around $200.

I agree. If you can't take someone down in one, you are more dangerous to innocents than the thug.

Re: Weapons

Get a Glock untill you can afford an HK!
Seriouse though, get a .40 or a .45. I will not carry anything less. Also lets get something straight, before anyone goes gung hoe with guns you better know the law pertaining to self defense in your area and any area you plan to travel to. Here in VA the use of deadly force is only constituted when an attacker puts you in a spot where you can not retreat to a safe haven, and you feel your life is in imediate danger. If someone rips off your money out your hand, tries to steal your truck or tools and he does not have a weapon, you shoot, you go to jail. Make real sure you know the self defense laws. Many people get their selves in trouble real quick. While most of us have the right to defend ourselves this is not the 1800's.
