Re: Tough Crowd

In reference to my original post, - - I do try to consider myself 'man-enough' to 'own-up' or 'admit' to some things/mistakes.

My apologies to Nathan for not 'recognizing' (until the last day-and-a-half of friendly PM's) that it IS TRUE that some 'newbies' may indeed feel intimidated by some of the so-called 'Tough Crowd'.

Here I find a 'total irony' to the very first reply to my post, - - and then a 'very noteworthy' reply in the 'plumbing' section AFTER the fact.

After reading this reply, - - I realized I DO owe an apology to Nate and all potential 'Newbies', - - but can guarantee that most 'questioners' ARE NOT, SHOULD NOT, and if I have any say over it WILL NOT be treated with such 'total dis-regard'.

Not trying to start a new 'pissing contest', but let's ALL try to treat questions with 'respect'.

Re: Tough Crowd

Well then in some small way I'm happy I was able to contribute to your education and growth as a decent human being.

I'm just sorry you've been so blinded that you weren't able to accept good advice given so early by me that you had to stumble through wasting 36 hours of the owner of the sites time.

Next time just ask me first and be ready to accept everything I say as gospel and it will save you a lot of frustration.

Re: Tough Crowd

The problems that have been brought to my attention with these PM's are basically two-fold, - -

One is the 'character-attack' of the questioner, - - for which I see absolutely no excuse, - - 'logic' can find no other real motive than to (try and) make 'oneself' look better (to lurking customers, maybe??) at another's expense.

The other is the 'fact-attack', - - which has apparently scared (for lack of a better word) off some of the most knowledgeable among us, - - who would apparently rather 'chew glass' than argue endlessly with those who are 'ammoed-up' with nothing more than attitude.

The two (what I consider) most knowledgeable people I've known on this site have left for these reasons (one for each), - - though I am in 'hopes' they will re-consider.

Interestingly, EACH have attributed it to only one or two 'specific' people.

Hard as it is, I choose NOT to name them (right now, anyway).

If we were all to look within 'ourselves' and be honest and respectful to those trying to learn something, - - I think this site would see less 'clouds of dust'.

In this I can whole heartedly agree with you, and I'm especially over-joyed to hear it coming from someone such as yourself, it's just another indication of the tremendous growth as a person you are experiencing. Cheers to you Tom! In all seriousness I vote to recommend you for the Internet most improved man of 2005 award.

I'm also glad to see you have stepped up to fill the vacant position as this forums self-appointed score keeper. Every forum needs somebody who gets off by walking around the room of a rip-roaring party and pissing on everybody's legs and making sure they all know how bad the party is in their opinion, of course it is always under the weak disguise of somebody who's intentions are just to make it all better.

Re: Tough Crowd

I'll respectfully give you the last word on that, so as not to be a hypocrite.

Nate, just accept the fact that the argument has been temporarily diffused.

I'm in survival mode and will be shutting down shortly.

Re: Tough Crowd

12:30 PM and I'm going down. It's not too bad at the moment, tomorrow is supposed to be the worst of it. No need to reply from now on, going down. Jeff Beck tune for all of you other 'old dudes'. Jeff Beck Group album, it was his first effort after the car wreck. Bodacious.
