for Bob the snake guy...
Just yesterday evening I "dispatched" a black snake with a yellow ring around its neck in my garage with an Estwing framer.
no regrets

Re: Thinking About A Dog

Here is my "dog", she just doesn't realize she is a dog. She is a little dirty here because we stopped to play in an alfalfa field and she dove in chest first.
She pretty much goes everywhere with me.

Haven't got the hang of the photo thing still.

Re: Thinking About A Dog

So N8r..
WDRFK are pics of your new dog!!!
I was reminded of this thread today by our new dog being a PITA and how spoiled we were with "chance" the dog I put pics in this thread.
I think I saw a nice backyard in a different thread about you working on your house? put a fence around it if you can and you can just open a door when your dog needs to do something.

Re: Thinking About A Dog

I haven't decided yet. I am working on my attorney's deck right now. He has a couple English Setters. They are GREAT dogs. I just haven't put much into it because work is a bit thin around here and don't want another mouth to feed before I can take care of it BUT I am still thinking about it. Just read an article in an old Men's Health mag about dogs making people more extroverted. Hopefully by spring I will have it figured out. Would be cool to have a puppy around

Make sure you have a good floor, aquariums are heavy.
you have no idea what you re talking about with water changes testing etc and worring if the power goes out buying a generator bs that salt water fish are about wait till the night that you watch 3 or 4 thousand dollars worth of fish die and you don't dnow S#$& why it isw happening.

Salt water tanks are cool but more work than a puppy

Some "herder" dogs are cool. I can't think of any exact types, but remember seeing some on here, or possibly another forum. Maybe I should get a chinchilla.
Achinchilla is a mean little basterd that will pi## on you as well as look at you

I have an Aussie and my son has a pit bull. I swear that pit is the most loveable, personable, smart dog. I absolutely was against him getting it, but I was wrong, this dog is like our 4th child.

I would vote for a pit if you want an intimidating looking, loyal and loving dog, just don't dive in without research. Check your city laws and research the breeder and absolutely get a puppy.

My Aussie is another story, she is stubborn and does require a lot of attention. Luckily I enjoy her company and take her everywhere with me. A Frisbee and an Alfalfa field will wear her out though. Oh yeah, no one is coming near my truck. You would think she was a Rottweiler - she is not nice if you come near the truck. She also enjoys herding "anything".

When the time comes to think of another dog (long from now I hope), I am going to seriously check out Cane Corso's.

You sound like a 3 year old Black lab type of guy to Me. Do it-you won't regret it.
Aussies are the coolest dogs. We have a blue merle. blue eyes mostly white I will have to post a picture.
However stuborn will try to herd the other dogs ( two jack russells)
I know I have probably the most annoying dogs in the world but each ahs it's own personality and I love each and every one of them.

I have had setters all my life( 50 odd years), they are great dogs. They do need to run but that's a good thing. Great with kids and other pets( cats)

Lab or Boxer. Still undecided. Neighbors have both. I like the boxer cause they are pretty clean, menacing and.. just pretty cool dogs. I would want a unique colored one. Paper/online has em listed from $250-500.00

Females or males better?

Having had 4 boxers in 15 years....and now the owner of a black lab, I would take the lab.

Labs are smarter and not quite so temperamental. Much better with children. They are just as protecting and loyal.

As for male or female? I would recommend male and have him neutered. Don't get me wrong I've seen fantastic dogs in both genders. Neutered males seem to mellow the fastest. Dealing with a puppy may be fun to begin with, but gets old pretty quick.
