[quote=tomstruble;733475]fish?they aint a pet ,how the hell you pet a fish Bob?

My brother inlaw use to pet his oscar. Damn thing would swim up to the top of the tank for his nightly petting. But only for him. I kid you not.

Different breeds have their quirks. Dusty's probably spending a small fortune on food feeding her house horse.

We probably average $100/month. But our dogs are spoiled. They eat homemade food. Chicken or beef with fresh/frozen veggies and rice. And organ meat when we can find it.

We haven't had any vet bills in nearly 10 years. We spent about $100 on the pup we found. He was pretty sick and had a bad case of mange. The lab/pit was charging a cat and sliced her chest open on a stake in the ground. That one took about a dozen stitches. And then there's the misseses dog-12 year old sh!tzu (that word gets filtered here ****zu), and she's been healthy.

And like people, the older they get, the more care they'll need. It is a labor of love.

I stuck my finger in the tank once and got bit. AND it drew blood. Damn carnivores!

That is because they are working dogs. Their minds/bodies need to be fed. Any kind of working dog requires a lot of attention.

Cats aren't bad. Get one of these and nobody will ever break into your house.

This is a cool site if you want something different than your average cat or dog.

For his size, he really doesn't eat a lot. I probably spend $30 mo. on food for him. He's a Mastiff/boxer mix. Lazy dog.

I had our dogs trained to stay off the furniture, but Mrs. CC wrecked that.

And dogs don't how to wipe their feet before coming in the house.

Puppies like to chew things up. IMO, puppies are not suited for first time dog owners. They make a great second dog, though. And the first dog is a big plus in helping out with the puppy.

Cats are okay but can easily piss me off, and you really can't play with them that much.
I felt that way too till we got a kitten. Kittens are hilarious. You can play with cats, just not in the same way as a dog.

Our cats have their claws still. But that's because our dogs still have their teeth. I also have a bird. And there is a pecking order in our house. The cats have put the fear of god into the dogs. Never underestimate a good sharp claw. But that pales in comparison to the fury the bird has unleashed at times. When I let the bird out of the cage, the dogs literally RUN out of the house, and she weighs all of 6 ounces.

I've got a client/friend that's a herpetologist. He really got me into the field as a hobbyist. Someday when I have a bigger house I'm going to have a few exotics. Im not getting any hot herps though. Dont need a pet that can poison me.

LOLOLOL I can totally picture that! I like cats in the respect that they are kinda their own being. They don't really depend on you for much, other than food or come around when they want something... yeah I am still talking about a cat and not a female

Check out www.kingsnake.com especially the classifieds. Alligators for $100. It's my home when I'm not on CT.

Re: Thinking About A Dog

Back on topic,... dogs are awesome but are a great resposibility. They are like children, but could you imagine ever parting with a child.. I don't think so.

If you are looking for a bulldog, mine is about to get knocked up. She is an Altman Eng-Am.

I look forward to seeinig her at the end of the day just like I do the rest of my family.
