Tried taking the hub assembly off the XJ. Hammered, pried, swore at it. It doesn't matter what I do to it. It will not simply fall out like it should. I wanted to have both sides done by now and I can't even get one. Time for a beer.

Did you try threading the bolts back in just far enough to grab some thread and pounding on them individually to pop it out? I think I remember being able to use a bigger hammer that way.

I did try that. It's like it's fused to the mating surface.

I'm going to rent a slide hammer and try again. I'll put anti seize on the mating surface afterwards too so I never have to fight with it again.

Use a small torch and heat the hell out of it before the hammering

Re: Things I Hate

I'm doing this in my townhouse parking lot, the management already doesn't like me doing maintenance. A torch would be bad as much as I'd like to use one.

I knew about slide hammers but not about hub pullers. They attach to the studs and has a threaded rod that pushes against the CV axle. I'd like to try that. The parts stores are closed now but I'll check tomorrow.

Customers who say they hired you because of your great Angie's reviews but refuse to leave their own review. Usually attach a link right to the email with the paid invoice to make it even easier .

I hate compressors that leak. Drives me crazy. I pinpointed my leak to the tank pressure gauge.

Spending all day putting together a sign ready for install to find out the metal shop cut a random lone hole with the laser into the brushed stainless!

It's a curved recessed sloped top 1/8" stainless piece. Very difficult to make. Best chance is they can tig weld a plug into the hole and redo the brushed finish. Problem is they don't have a machine to do the brushed effect.

It's meant to be installed tomorrow so they best be able to fix it
