Re: Is There A Way To?????

the bigger question is; is it legal to do so and the answer would be no, in most cases if you are speaking of a recent release movie.
Not only would would you be in violation of copyright laws for copying the movie but you would be in violation of the digital millennium copyright act for cracking the anti-theft system on this disc.

Here are the highlights of the DMCA:
Quote:
Highlights Generally:
· Makes it a crime to circumvent anti-piracy measures built into most commercial software.
· Outlaws the manufacture, sale, or distribution of code-cracking devices used to illegally copy software.
· Does permit the cracking of copyright protection devices, however, to conduct encryption research, assess product interoperability, and test computer security systems.
· Provides exemptions from anti-circumvention provisions for nonprofit libraries, archives, and educational institutions under certain circumstances.
· In general, limits Internet service providers from copyright infringement liability for simply transmitting information over the Internet.
· Service providers, however, are expected to remove material from users' web sites that appears to constitute copyright infringement.
· Limits liability of nonprofit institutions of higher education -- when they serve as online service providers and under certain circumstances -- for copyright infringement by faculty members or graduate students.
· Requires that "webcasters" pay licensing fees to record companies.
· Requires that the Register of Copyrights, after consultation with relevant parties, submit to Congress recommendations regarding how to promote distance education through digital technologies while "maintaining an appropriate balance between the rights of copyright owners and the needs of users."
· States explicitly that "[n]othing in this section shall affect rights, remedies, limitations, or defenses to copyright infringement, including fair use..."
When your rent a movie, you are actually purchasing a license to view the movie. The license extends only as long as the agreement allows, which is the time you have actual possession of the copy provided to you. Once you no longer have that copy in hand, your license has expired and maintaining a copy is then illegal. As you may have read in the highlights posted above, actually cracking the anti-piracy programs itself is actually illegal as well as selling a program that allows you to crack the anti-piracy protection as well.

For me, in answer to your last 3 questions, yesterday, yesterday, yesterday, hahahah.
Here in SC we now have a 2 min law for bikes at a redlight. got to luv it.
If you are on a bike & first at a redlight, you wait 2 mins for the light to change, if it does not change, the biker then has the right to go thru the red light.
1 one thousand, 2 one thousand, gone --=honest officer, it seemed like 5 or 6 mins to me.

Hope you had a great Christmas

First, I doubt this forum intends to seemingly support illegal activity. Since your post does that, the lack of removal of your info does just that.

Next, if the tree fell due to naturally occurring decay, generally, no. If the owners were aware of the condition of the tree and were aware that somebody may be injured if it fell, and failed to remove the danger, then maybe.

In any case, the neighbors would typically not have standing to sue due to the lack of any familial connection. IF the chipmunk performed a service for the neighbors that no other chipmunk could, then there is a possibility the neighbors could sue. They could not make a wrongful death claim since such a suit is actually a claim made on behalf of the estate of the deceased and the neighbors would have no standing to act in that capacity at any time. They may be able to make a claim on a claim of general loss since the chipmunks actions for them are irreplaceable but chances are they will not win.

as to my criminal actions? Not relevent and if I were caught engaging in any of the actions in your query, they are all minimal as to cost compared to a copyright and DMCA violation would be both in fines and especially in legal costs.

any more questions?

I just read about that law passing somewhere else as well, I think it was Tennessee, could have been SC, that should be the law everywhere, they make a device to mount to your motorcycle to change lights (some sort of strong magnet), years ago it wasn't a problem but now with all the red light cameras it's a pain, some of those lights just won't change for a motorcycle. I used to be able to reach my leg back and cover my plate with my foot (for tolls) but I can't do it anymore (getting old, bad knees). I've actually gotten off and walked my motorcycle through an intersection.

For DVD's I use a program called AnyDVD, I copy my DVD's (that I own) because they play better in some of my DVD players without the protection and I use them in my vehicles, so if they get stolen I'll still have the originals.

Obviously chances of getting caught are minimal but you did read the part about cracking the anti-piracy protection being illegal, right? It doesn't matter if you own them or not and actually, once you do not have possession of the original, possessing a copy is illegal as well.

Not trying to bust anybody's balls, just trying to inform.

Yeah, I'm aware, there was a case with a company here in the states that made software that defeated the protection, I bought a copy before it was banned (DVD X Copy). There were cases where it was considered fair use to copy disks for yourself. It wouldn't be a problem but some of those protected DVD's don't play properly on different DVD players, people should be suing the manufacturers for selling you crap DVD's, I bought the Stargate TV program boxed DVD set and many of the disks won't play in the DVD players hooked up to my TV's but the do work in the computer when the protection is removed, I make copies so I can actually watch the DVD's I paid for, pisses me off and you don't find out they're bad until long after the time to return them has expired (takes a while to watch 10 seasons of a TV program. If someone wants to arrest me for copying DVD's I paid for and are unwatchable, unless copied, have at it, their time would be better served getting those guys selling copies off the expressway in Chicago, while the movies are still in the theater.
