Re: Thanksgiving Plans..

My family is headed over to my sisters house which is in the same town about 2 miles away. The immediate family is going to be there. Same ole same ole. Nothing really special, just good times and food. By the time the meal comes around half the folks are stuffed from the goody tables. I'm looking forward to a good nap on my sisters couch after dinner.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans..

Cooking at home...I will actually be doing the cooking. Wife has to work Thursday morning and should be home around 1:00. My son in law daughter and granddaughter will be helping me with the morning chores.

Have a few things in the shop going on, so will get the son in law working on something for the daughter and granddaughter for Christmas. The granddaughter will be helping of course.

Same old here too. Mom's for dinner and then I told my good friend that I hung out with (his parents were like my second parents) that I'd stop by his place to see his mom and dad, and the rest of the family.

We normally head to see family in South Carolina but since the wifey is 8 months pregnant, we have everyone coming here this year. I'm frying a turkey Wednesday morning and we'll being having all the other traditional trimmings. Looking forward to a semi-relaxing day.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans..

To keep the thread positive I have no relatives I speak to close enough. So as is tradition my GF and I will possibly go to Golden Coral (as we try to save up $$ for each year)so she can get her turkey and me my steak and be thankful that it could be worse and hope for a better thanks giving the next year.

As the saying goes I used to complain about having no shoes until I met the man with no feet.

Festivities start at noon and about 2:00 is the meal. Bring your own napkins.

Wife and I are headed to a statepark Wednesday afternoon. Far enough away there are no phones, no TV, no wireless. Just us and a few books and trails until Sunday.

I am cooking a few birds, one in the oven, one smoked, and the trimmings for my wife, and all 3 of my kids, plus 2 grandkids. What more could a man wish for then family?

If you can read this thread and have someone, anyone to share a meal with, be thankful.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans..

Me and the kids are going to do some video 'casts to send to the troops overseas, wishing them a happy Thanksgiving and CHRISTMAS. And that we really do appreciate what they are doing for us. It was always the letters from the kids that got to me the most when I served so I thought I'd repay those heartfelt thanks from many years ago. The kids are really excited to do it too, so what the heck...

There's a group of old folks that kind of enjoy it when we pack up some food, and go eat with them. Probably do that again this year.

You didn't say it was formal...does this mean I have to wear a shirt?
Don't you have any drop-cloths laying around?...

Re: Thanksgiving Plans..

We had our Thanksgiving dinner last night. My wife works Thursday night. Kids and I will go to Mom's on Thursday for dinner, but it wont be the same since this is the first year without my Dad there.

I hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving.

I'll have a trough set up just for you. With all the drop cloths you need. But please, at least wear a "T" shirt. No one wants to see all that

Going over to Moms to have the first T-day dinner in 24 years with her. Sis is doing all the cookin'. More than a little bummed that Dad didn't live long enough for me and the boys to spend a few holidays with him.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans..

Long weekend at in laws, in Black Mtn., NC, could be or could be
It all depends on who's there. ('cuz you KNOW I'm never the one that ruins a holiday) And they do like beer, too. So there's always that. Hmm maybe I'll gather all the scrap wood and have a bonfire. Weekend's getting better already, and they do like beer, too. So there's always that.

Then fire up the Heep (76 CJ5: 304, t176, d300, SOA, ARB d44 rr, d 30 fr, 35" mt's) and bring said crispy bird there and enjoy its juicy deliciousness in front of a bonfire. And I'd be willing to bet there's beer, so there's always that. But it'd be Christmas before me and the Heep (It's capitalized 'cuz it's a brand name) could be at the Cali state line.

Happy Thanksgiving.
