Re: Stop Smoking

Been smoke free for a little over 3-4 months now. Do I miss it? Yes. Do I crave them? Yes. Will I pay O'rama his tax money for the habit? Fruck no!

I'll do ANYTHING to ruin that bung hole's day.

Re: Stop Smoking

Best of luck to you Bob.

Me and the wife are quitting. On chantix and I guess it's working. The craving is still there after a week, just not as intense...still smoking a couple a day. Gave both of the guys a couple of extra bucks last week for the smokes I knew I was going to bum....gotta love stressful moments during the day when the first thing you have to do is stand back, take a smoke and assess the situation.

Am doing a porch roof for an 89 yr old woman who really doesn't have the money,so I'm doing it on the cheap anyways.....Tore off side porch and have rotted rafters to go along with the rotted roof boards.....have been trying to talk her into doing the front porch at the same time, she just can't swing both of them this year...still can't talk her into it.

Re: Stop Smoking

You have to quit if you want the Chantix to work. What I noticed was even thought I wanted a smoke, the craving wasn't bad, and they began to taste really bad. Then it is only willpower.

You cannot smoke a couple a day & expect to quit. It does'nt work that way--- I have been thru that for years- before I decided it was time to never smoke again. It is very hard but the only way is to forge it in your mind to never touch another one & stick to it no matter what. It does take a while for the cravings to stop........... I feel for everyone in this position & wish everyone the best in kicking this Nasty Habit

For shame.

Smoke free now for 54 months in a row. Recently began jogging a mile and walking 2 miles per day. God don't want me yet, man.

Re: Stop Smoking

Its been many years now that I smoked or dipped...I was only able to do it cold turkey. I remember the cravings, at first, were most of my waking hours. Gradually they became less and less noticeable. It may have been as little as a minute a day less. Even now, I have an occasional craving but it is only a brief moment and I am so grateful today to be free of it that it snaps me out of it.

Was wondering how you were making out with that My cravings aren't near as bad.....right or wrong I smoked 2 yesterday. My wife hasn't had one since saturday and she doesn't look at me like she hates me anymore.

Chantix hasn't given me the nightmares that it seems to some people, but I do wake up every night and have trouble falling back to sleep.

On the news, California runs out of budget... Mr. Arnold legalizes weeds "marijuana" for now. Everyone can buy & try later j/k

THAT SUX!!!!! I never could understand how someone could go that long and then start again or the "I have one or two on weekends" or "only when I drink"

These NASTY ASS things are so entrenched in my life I don't have the will power to just qiut. I applaud ANYONE that can quit even such as yourself if they pick it up again.
I usually try to quit/cut down when money's tight or they raise prices/taxes and then I compensate for the extra cost. LIKE IT"S A FKING BILL OF NECESITY OR SOMETHING!!!

"Back in the Day" I drank, smoked some"other tobacco"( and YES I inhaled) and did some white powdery substance QUIT ALL THAT over 15 years ago NO PROB!(Save for MAYBE a few beers once every 1-2 years) Even in my hardcore drinking days I started a tradition which grew to a few more friends of mine where every New Years we WOULDN'T drink.

NEVER tried crack or heroine but If I started I think I could be LESS addicted to them than Nicotine!

I have these ecigs now. By this time of the day I would have had about 1 1/2 packs down. With this ecig, I've had two this morning with my coffee. Once I finish this last pack, I'm done with it all together. Ecigs are the cure all for any smoker. I can't belive how well these things are working

Just saw it on the news thw other day Ecigs could also cause cancer Don't worry Jason, you have to die of something.

Been 8 or 9 days without a smoke myself and the wife has been a solid 2 weeks plus. Forgot to take my chantix this morning becuase you have to eat to take them oh well I'm surviving. Seems to take away most of the craving.

Not sure how they came up with that, probably the same geniuses that say soy and red meat give you cancer. Oh well. At least there are no carcinogens and about 50 other chemicals going into my body now. No more smell or second hand smoke either.

IMO, any direction towards not smoking is a good one. With this, I know I'm done with it. Good luck and I wish you the best with your fight to stop it. If it doesn't work out, consider this method at the least. It's better than just giving up

Re: Stop Smoking

i used to smoke two packs a day no problem working for 8 hours and not smoking a single cig! Now i rarely smoke only when i drink or when someone has a pack, my new thing is dipping which isnt much better but i cut down on that now. I Used to be up to 2 and a half cans a day... Now a can last me 2 days. I stopped smoking when the FSC smokes came out in ohio they tasted like sh!t.. And i can only go to Tennessee every so often. But i dont regret it one bit. Sure i have cravings but i just throw in a dip the first three days were rough.. I dont know why i went back to dipping i guess nicotine is just that addictive i used to dip when i was about 15 and now im doing it again hopefully i kick that too!

Re: Stop Smoking

Nearly New Years, who is going to commit this time to quit?

I noticed at the quick stop yesterday, a carton of Marlboros are $55....WOW!

I wish I had a quarter for every cigarette I smoked for nearly 30 years.
