As of now, captain free.
Two dead pirates.

Re: So Far So Good

phuck yeah baby!!!!! finally a scenario played out as it should've been, too bad osama obama took so phucking long to sign the order....guess the teleprompter was'nt telling him to sign the order...so i'm glad that finally got put on screen for him.

Wondering if they're now gong to try and do a sweep with all the other boats being held hostage, of if they're going to leave that upto the country who owns the ports the ships are out of. Treat them like terroists, how could it get any better, with pirates, you know EXACTLY where they're at, no searching!!

Could be something to do with
timing, and not getting the
good captain dead too?

Navy SEALS arent stationed on every ship. And its possible these SEALS egressed from a sub in the area. It all takes time to coordinate, not that I'm making any excuses for Obama.

If I was in the correct place to do it I would say these people are in need a a company that has mercenaries to rid on the ship. It would probably be worth it. One well trained guy could down a boat full of pirates easy.

CDAT said something to the effect that if all ships travelling through that area had at least 1 trained sniper on board, capture would be a lot more difficult.

Re: So Far So Good

Great news. I'm glad he was rescued before they got him to shore.

It's unfortunate these idiots still hold over 200 other hostages. I find the following quote quite troubling, from the AP:

Jamac Habeb, a 30-year-old pirate, said that the killing of the three pirates was "a painful experience."

"This is unfortunate action and our friends should have done more to kill the captain before they were killed. This will be a good lesson for us," Habeb told the AP from one of Somalia's piracy hubs, Eyl.

I doubt they'd approach a ship with one of these mounted on deck:

I suspect these pirate ships aren't very large, compared to container ships. Why not just RAM them?

It's hard to ram a speed boat---much faster and much more maneuverable than the ship's they take.

These hill billys get better equiped with every ransom paid. They make up to 2 mil per operation and reinvest in better equipment.

Container ships are far to large/heavy/burdensome for evasive manuvers vs a small run about with an outboard...would be like a sea tortise trying to ram a dolphin.

Re: So Far So Good

You would likely want a group of 5 minimum all well trained in sniper, assault rifle, and close range combat. It would cost a few bucks to outfit with all needed equipment. But if you had the money to get started I am sure it can be profitable and earn it back in the first job or 2.

Boys, the insurance companies
don't want armed resistance.
Don't claim to understand their
point of view, but that is what has
been stated over and over again....
