Sizing Up Your Nieces Beau

I remember during my bachelor days, you could tell what kind of girl you were going out with by leaving the drivers side door locked. While opening the door for her, and going around to your side, then came the signal...Would she unlock the door? or just try to keep warm?

Well, the other day, my niece brought a guy over. Had to find a subtle way to see weather he's good or not up to snuff.

We played tennis. Good way of sizing him up. If he pouts or quits, or doesn't have any interest....Not good

If he hustles...great
If he has game, even better.

Anybody have any other ways of seeing weather your daughter/niece's man of interest is good or not? Remember you have to be subtle

As the Dad of twin girls(HS seniors), I have a my own critera.
I don't want to hear your car stereo before you get here.
Do not honk, text or call when you get here, ring the door bell.
Wear pants that fit or I will provide you with a duct tape belt.
Base ball hats are to be worn at 12 or 6 not 3 or 9.
Beanies are not to be worn in the summer.
Shake hands like you have a pair.
Play football-good
Play hockey-even better
Have a clue-outstanding
I personally don't think this is too much to ask for.
I do remember what it was like at that age,well sort of.

I always ask "which "D "do you want me to be, Dad or Dick?"

How about table manners? İ was eating at a bar-grill a few weeks ago and there were a lot of kids at another table. One was constantly speaking with his mouth open-full of food-and constantly shoving more food in. Of course he was wearing his baseball cap at the same time. İ had half a mind to tell him that if he could not breathe through his nose-he could get that fixed.

Man, I'm glad I have boys. I'm much better prepaired to deal with a pissed off father banging on my door, than a horny ass teenager banging my daughter.
I believe I have raised responsible/respectful kids, but then again so did my parents.

I did the exact same thing, I find the little things like that are indicative of the big things.

But I'm not gonna lie to you no matter how good lookin your niece is I won't be haulin my ass back and fourth after no fuzzy yellow ball. Why not try a less lame sport like pool or table tennis..good chance to size up his drinking ability too.

I always focused on simple tests, next time you know he's going to be with your niece bring them both a coffee and see what his reaction is. If he turns it down = fail if he respectfuly thanks you and takes it = pass.

My daughter is 7. I'm just getting ready for those teenaged years. The one boy who told me he was gonna' marry her, I shook his hand and asked him what kind of job he was getting because she was high maintenance and would most likely want expensive things and whatnot. He ran and ran and ran... Never too early to start.

My daughter is off to college and life is good . As long as the grades are good I pay without complaint . You hopefully teach them to make good choices . My rule was always be respectful in my home , no drinking and driving , and be in by the time I say .

C'mon guys, tennis is much better than sitting on the computer.

In addition, I remember as a lad, if playing tennis with some older fella was necessary to get where I wanted...no problem.

Don't take that last sentence out of context, I just mean as a young hot blooded guy, and I certainly wouldn't risk ruffling any feathers by declining a game of tennis.

Hey, we got to remember, when it comes to their choice in boys, we have little say on who they choose, but sports is great way of sizing up one's character. Lot's of times, the youngsters choose a gangsta style, but they still might be good guys, just poor taste in style.
