Shark Video - Your Feedback

I'd love your feedback on my video.... kinda a hobby to further keep me away from spending time with my wife and kids . Just kidding honey. No seriously.

Yeah, well... all the videos here I really shot. And yes, those are real sharks.

Btw, on page 3 is one of my littlest dancing on my roofing truck (for like the millionth time!)

The bahamas one is at only about 25' so we had TONS of bottom time... and the sharks ... well suffice it to say, I'd much rather have those hundred or so swarming (SLOWLY) arround like in the video... (as you guess there is about 40lbs of froze fish chunks in the milk crates) .... I'd rather the 100 sharks instead of 10 random dogs at the park with a bunch of dog food.

Did you see the one in Fiji - it's there. Bad viz... and unfortunately at about 55' ... we had so little bottom time.... but dig the HUGE (13+feet) bull shark. Hard to see ... but it was about 20 feet away. Wish I saw that tiger shark at the end of the video.

Okay,

Now I'm really going home.

Friggin awesome man!!!

What were the water temps on the Fiji dive? Did you really need the full wet suits? When I did some wreck dives off of Marathon Key, they knew we were from the midwest because our blood was thickerer.

Never went that exotic though. Way cool.

Good tunes too. On the Tarpin hit by the hammerhead, I would not have been walking the outside ledge of the boat with all that blood in the water.

G'nite,

Ed

Well, to be honest, my dad was a hippy ... and after leaving my mom w/ the two of us (3 & 5yrs of age) ... he probably did his best to sew more of his seed ... which he did even before he left apparently.

www.xlnte.com ... I'm the goofy looking one.

I hail (thank GOD) from NY Metro ... and love the cold.

It would'a been fine to have less on ... but your 02 usage would increase as your body would have to work harder to keep warm... and at 55' there's not much bottom time anyway.

D***! How old were you when you found out you weren't like other little boys?? So why do they not attack in a situation like that? Do you leave before the frozen fish is eaten up?

Re: Shark Video - Your Feedback

Hey, cool, my wife and I have done that dive with Stuart Cove in the Bahamas too. She got her mask knocked off her face by a shark darting by her out of the circle during the shark feeding where everybody sits in the circle around the feeder. Freaked her out, but she handled it like a pro, but her eyes were as big as saucers for the rest of the feeding.

I'm planning a guy trip with an outfit that goes down to Mexico to the Isla de Guadalupe, where the great whites congrigate!

Want to come along? We could use a video guy

The cool thing about doing those dives is you quickly learn like snakes, sharks really want nothing to do with you. Believe me, it's quite the opposite, it's very hard to get a shark even close enough to you to get a good picture before the feeding starts. Those sharks all keep their distance, as you look around during the dive you see a couple here and there off just outside your clear vision circling about. They won't come in close at all, they fear you more than you fear them.

The feeding is like calling your dog to dinner, those sharks know about the free meal and come a runnin, but once the food is gone so are they. They pay no attention to you at all during any of this.

Jaws was just a fantasy movie. Reality is quite different.

I think I should be on the board that rated the video "E". I think I could change their minds to "B". No attacks, no visible blood, no topless chicks. It wouldn't be "B" for "Boring" though, it would be for "Balls" cause you got big ones!

Oh, about ... 2nd grade. When all you idiots said that girls had "cuties"... and I was making holding hands with Missy Mcneish as the ONLY boy at her birthday party... yeah, nothing like being the black sheep that gets you in to an exclusive thing like all the grape juice and ballon popping with 10 hot broads. <sigh>

Prior to going down I told hte dive master that I wasn't going to sit in the circle ... and dont worry as I approached ... and if you notice - in the beginning of the vid I'm farther from the feeder ... and was inching forward the whole time.

And like frat guys, when the food is gone, the sharks leave... looking for more.

When?
Where exactly?
How much?

I'm TOTALLY excited now. Oh, btw, I speak fluent spanish ... in case you've considered doing it independent of a tour group (in case that saves money).

I've ALWAYS wanted to go to El bajo seamount
Dig the schooling hammerheads. I have to shoot videos like this picture. I 've read of thousands of t hem schooling... and as you may know, they are solitary animals ... so they 're there for some old tim efooling around ... and not interested in me. I hope.

Re: Shark Video - Your Feedback

El Bajo would rock

When they built the Denver aquarium here a few years ago they spent 2 seasons collecting in the Sea of Cortez, that place is amazing.

The great white trip pretty much seems to have to be done in September in order to get a 'guarantee' of getting a good great white experience. This September I'll be in Europe so we are possibly looking at 2008. When we looked into it I believe the one we were considering was running about $2500 give or take. It's a week trip out of San Diego out and back, living on the boat.

Funny story about Stuart Coves with us, was a few weeks ago we were down in St Kitts and we wanted to dive, we found a dive shop and were getting ready to go out with them, only to realize on the dock my wife had not put our log books in our bags and along with them were our C cards. I happened to have my Stuart Coves shark diver T shirt on, so the dive master quized me about the shark dives they do, seems he knows them well, and based upon my answers he determined we were for real and let us go out with out C cards available to him.

Pretty funny how everything is related, small, small world.

Re: Shark Video - Your Feedback

LOL

I stopped filling out my dive log after dive 100... it gets too much like HS IMO... and I was a geek in HS ... graduated at 5'10 175#.

Of course I grew to 6'1" and 200... but that was at 22.

Anyway, I NEVER bring my dive book... and have a few times have had problems ... but most of the time they just ask me the same questions.

Love diving.

Dunno why I'm not living in Philippines, Fiji, or Honduras and running a dive shop.

Really, I should be.... outside of the fact that I'd hate to have to MAKE my wife learn her FOURTH language.
