Seattle Rocks

That city kicks ass.

Little rainy when we landed but great WX for the next 3 days than little rainy when I left. Locals were telling me it rains more in NY than SEA but it's just always cloudy.

Did a bunch of things, thanks to those who gave tips on where to go. Favorite place was the Boeing plant in Everest...but I thought the name of the city was something like millawaki or something. Here's a tip, never EVER take the public buses out of the city to a place more than 5 miles away. Took me 3 hrs to go about 30 miles....lesson learned.

Anyhow, here's some pics:

Re: Seattle Rocks

This monster is used to haul pieces of the new 787 body. Hard to tell in this pic, but the truck on the right (port side of plane) is basically a giant air compressor, this is what's needed to start the 100K pounds of thrust engines. One wouldn't spool up I guess...they are very loud.

Re: Seattle Rocks

Still a concept...actually they are selling different setups...common for liners. The plane is getting its FAA certs right now.

Was the picture of the GPS taken while you were in flight? I see speed at 515.

Re: Seattle Rocks

This place is called "Experience Music Project" Very cool place. This guitar / instruments tower was about 50 feet tall. Great for kids as they have all kinds of things for them to play. I jammed on their 5 piece set for about 10 minutes (used to be a drummer...suck now)

EMP-.jpg

SEA Aquarium is a very cool place. If you have kids ya gotta take them here.

So that's about the extent of it...My kids have all new Boeing shirts and 3 new model aircraft...727 -- 747 -- 787.

Correct. It actually got up to 620 MPH just before the decent into Burbank, CA....Bout 615 over your house in OR.

Yes I know it's a no no....however that same technology is flying the airplane....it's just a receiver...nothing transmits.

KPDX ...aka Portland Intl

This is an area called Battle Ground. It's a proceedure fix for Instrument aircraft...not only for Portland but for Seattle. This is where we started our decent into KSEA

And yes Ron, I do love the PNW. The air is SO much better than down here.

That friggen guy owns that town.I had no idea.
I met a sparky up their that does holiday lighting for Gates's place. 85K Sq. Ft. Of which 75% of it is under ground. He bought something like 20 other peoples houses ...demo'd all of em and build his place. Apparently he has some insane security...wouldn't doubt it. But yes, Paul Allen bought 2 special Jimi Hendrix guitars and has a perminant showing for them in thier. No pics were allowed to be taken. It was a white Strat strung upside down that he played at Woodstock.

Re: Seattle Rocks

Oh yes, I forgot Jimi, he's buried in Renton I believe. When I moved out there, grunge was really taking the world by storm.

Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Temple of the Dog
Soundgarden
Alice in Chains
Candlebox
Queensryche

all were Seattle area bands

Loved one local band called Bathtub Gin but they broke up.

Re: Seattle Rocks

The town with the hardest name I had pronouncing was Puyallup. Next was Sequim.

Re: Seattle Rocks

Hey James...didja check out the yellow pages under "Plumber" ( I know you did.)? That's the competition up here for a fraction of the population variable down there, so now you know what a plumber is up against for work here.

After the shake-out of the SoCal housing bubble, I may wander down south, down Marin County way, I don't know.
