Scary Stuff! Dog Brain In Dish Plays Video Game

OK, this is just scary. That the University of Texas they took some brain cells from a dog and grew them in a dish and somehow had it play Quake 3.

Quote:
The "brain," a group of 50,000 nerve cells taken from a dog and raised in a Petri dish, lets scientists observe brain functions at the cellular level in real time. Scientists hope to better understand how the brain deals with sensory input which may lead to treatments for certain types of blindness and brain trauma.
As a living computer, the cells may one day be used control robots to handle dangerous tasks such as navigating complex paths to let bomb squads remotely diffuse a bomb or even to build soldier robots designed to take out entrenched enemies.
There are some videos you can watch of the progress it makes in the video game. The thing learns

Sounds like an episode from the old "Outer Limits "T.V series. Please do not adjust your sets, take us to your leader, intruder alert, intruder alert, I can't go any faster Captain, etc

What really got me was watching the videos and seeing "it" progress and learn. In the last video the brain dodges a rocket and then fires and kills the "Bot" that it is playing against. Crazy stuff.

What that proves is that most video games are for idiots.
