I know what you feel like. When they demo'd the old Comiskey Park on the south-side of Chicago, I lost a big part of my childhood.

But that's Yankee frickin Stadium right there. The place where Joe D smoked butts between innings, Babe Ruth banged hookers in the clubhouse, and Lou Gehrig considered himself “lucky” even though he knew he was dying |

I wasn't trying to get White Sox vs Yankees. I was sympathizing to losing something that was important to you. I mean Comiskey held the first All-Star game. Joe Louis and Sony Liston fought there. But more importantly, in my lifetime, there was me seeing a scoreboard that shot fireworks. Seeing them play in shorts. Taking a shower in center field. Learning how to fill out the box scores from my dad. Getting to vote on what the Sox uniforms would be. And let's not forget disco demolition (which I did not attend). Those are all my memories which were all bigger than baseball. They just happened to occur while I was at Comiskey. I still sympathize with your stadium loss. Hey it could be worse. 4 years after them knocked down Comiskey, Chicago Stadium followed

Re: A Sad Day In The Bronx...RIP Old Friend
It is sad to see some of the old stadiums go. One of the things that bother me about the new venues are the names. Every one of them have a corporate name. No meaningful names anymore
