Roomba Vacuum Cleaners

Anybody have any input on these? O'l#2 wants one for Xmas. If it will scare the cat to death, I want one too!

Re: Roomba Vacuum Cleaners

I saw one the other day at Circuit City. I think they'd get "stuck" in some houses. Depends on how you have your stuff arranged, I guess. Seems like a neat idea, particularly for certain carpet colors that need regular vacuuming to look neat. I have mostly hardwood, so not much use for one. Besides, we have a girl that comes in to clean anyhow.

I'm Pergo until the cat dies then hardwood. Again, the cat (Maine Coon, long hair) is the major problem. Cat hair tumbleweeds dot the flooring landscape as do hairballs and almost daily globs of cat puke. Who in their right mind would want one of these things in their house? Only a woman.

Re: Roomba Vacuum Cleaners

Cheap models will just go repeating in walk-patterns costing more electricity. Nice models will remember to improvise and change patterns of their walks, so less elec. cost. Someone said they might not suck good in thick carpets but only hard floors good, it's no doubt because of its small suction/vacump/motor power, maybe?

Seems like a fine solution for keeping the pesky cat hair tumbleweeds to a minimum. I don't really see the Roomba as a substitute for real vacuuming and cleaning. You'll have to let us know if the traction is effected when it runs through cat puke. It might do a dragster style burnout.

Friends of mine have a Roomba, the wife has MS and has good days and bad days. They have cats and hardwood too. Hubby got her a Roomba and they love it. It's been going for a couple of years now. The biggest complaint is that it has to be emptied often, but other than that, no worries.

Nothing negative so I guess that one is in our future. Sorry to hear about the low volume cannister though, I was hoping that it might catch the cat napping one day.

md, I'll let you know about the puke when it happens...I know that it will. I just hope that it doesn't turn out like the time I hit some doggy-do with the weed whacker.

A Glock model G20 in 10 mm works very well on cats, I know this for a fact.
