Red Sox Vs Rockies
This is a new thread to continue off the "Tribe up 2-1" thread. Since the tribe is now a part of forgotten history, here is my responce:
God....hang overs suck. nothin in my belly and all I wanna do is hurl.....Waaay too many Bazooka Joe shots...However I am not a total degenerate. I got up, got a ride back to my truck....found a bum sleeping in the back.....As I saw this I said out loud "What the F*uc" he awoke and said the winds last night were really bad and he was just lookin for some shelter. Which by the way, it's a disaster in SoCal. Yesterday at 2 P.M. it was almost totally dark. Winds are really bad and the smoke and ash is really hard to breath, worse with a hangover, anyhow, I gave the cat 5 bucks for some breakfast and off to work I went. I don't think I should have been driving this morning, but that's another topic. As for the Indians...... They just stopped catching good breaks. The Loftin thing at 3rd is stupid. That wasn't what caused the loss. And that run IMO wouldn't have swung the momentum. They are a decent ball club....they did not play this series like a deserving world series contender. I think with some minor adjustments....they will be back next year sniffing at the post season. As far as I'm concerned that was the series of the year. I first and foremost am a fan of the game - a fan of the A.L. - A fan and member of Red Sox Nation. Red Sox fans DEFINE what real fans are all about. They are a different breed.......Not to knock other team fans, but seriously... As for Sonny.....Ya want some cheese with all that wine you got. You got that one virus that's going around right now....what's it called?........hmmm...... Oh, I remember EXCUESS-I-TUS. God just like I was telling the Cleveland fans last night...sitting there with their arms folded, beers are 3/4 full with that look on their faces....like they just caught their wives cheeting on them or something. After Pedro's shot, I walked up to them, #33 Tec Jersey on, offered to buy them a round, they declined I told them "Man, it must really suck to be a Indians fan right about now", as I walked away I made sure they all knew I was laughing AT them, not with. I just added to their depression, and damn it felt good. I am of the mindset that when your enemy is down and out on the ground, start kicking as hard as you can until someone pulls you off. You see I remember very well 2003. I remember what it feels like, so I take a little extra joy in Red Sox wins. And Sonny you are right, Red Sox fans are A-Holes. I'm prolly one of the biggest ones you'll ever meet. I'm that A-hole with the foul mouth, screaming for my pitcher to bean your batter simply because first base is open. But you really want to know why Red Sox fans are the way they are? Red Sox players play with everything they got. Balls to the walls, flat out 110%. Real Red Sox fans are fans of that same calibur. I wouldn't expect you to fully comprehend this...it's more of a way of life. But Red Sox nation's issues are not with your team....they are with the Yankees. Make no mistake about it, the Yankees are enemy #1, no matter who we are playing. I won't say that I don't care who wins the WS...cuz I do, but just beating the Yanks is good enough for me to call it a good season. So now that the 2007 Clevelend Indians are already part of meaningless history, we head East to the mountains......Sox have "momentum" as the cliche goes....Francona said it best...nothing that happened today, will dictate tomorrow. I don't see a 4 game series happening.....and that's good, because I think I might have a ticket to game 5 in CO. Damn air fair alone is almost $600. But if I am their, you can expect me to be an A-hole once again, and who knows maybe a little parking lot brawl to cap off the night. It really is a lot of fun ![]() In all seriousness I do agree with my brother in arms Arch. I love the game, I play(ed) the game, and I have the utmost respect for the game. In 2003 after Boone did.......what he .......did, about 2 minutes later, I had a lone tear (coulda been the booze weeping) and I stood up and applauded for the game. THAT is the very reason I love the game so much. Everyone thinks Base Bal is too slow and boaring, not me, well there are a few pitchers that are abnormally slow, and yes I want them dead but. A love for the greatest game in the world is what I am passionate about. If that means I'm an A-hole....so be it. At Angel / Red Sox games (I don't waste my time with Dodgers/NL teams really) I get along with everyone and have a blast. Baseball is a huge stress reliever for me and it's something I know alot about and have a lot of fun with. Make no mistake however, when the game is on...the game is on. While I'm here yapping away, nursing a get better beer.....I Drove from L.A. to Oakland to see.....the a decisive game 5.....this was the game that Damon smacked heads with Jackson ![]() Which by the way, was really horrible to see, anyhow. First time to that stadium, throughout the game after a nice Red Sox play, or hit all you would hear is the cheer of the nation and then the chant...over and over "yankees suck...yankees suck" When the Sox finally won that game, it was insane. A's fans were throwing their hats on the ground, the rest of us were screaming beyond control...it was fun. Than I drove home...bad idea. I wasn't drinking, but 5-6 hrs to get their, than to turn around and go back after 9 innings was a lot. Had my buddy drive, who almost wrecked my brand new truck. Screw that guy, he was an A's fan too....! So we got any Rockie fans here? Like Real fans? I know it's a 15yr old expansion team...but still...you can come play with the big boys

Re: Red Sox Vs Rockies
I don't know what the hell all that was you wrote, but the Rockies are going to sweep the World Series. Yesterdays online ticket fiasco means now I have to be at my computers again at noon today to try to get my tickets.

Re: Red Sox Vs Rockies
Mike,
Ya gotta read James' post a couple of times and you'll get it. Pretty funny. but hey I'm gald you have such faith, teams need fans with blind faith. You see around here, many of us have lived with the Albatros of Boston sports teams around our necks for most of our lives. Oh sure, the Celtics were fairly good for a few decades and the Bruins had a flash of absolute brilliance, but otherwise the two major sports were headlined by the Ded Slobs and the Patsies. Now it's our time to bask in the well deserved lime light, but we will never forget. And 1986 was the WORST year ever. Although the SB and WS featured Boston teams - we got shamed. Da Bears beat the Patsies by 36 ....hell, even Wm "Refrigerator" Perry rushed for two TD's, and who doesn't know about game 6 of the 86 World Series (Don't blame Buckner, it was Schiraldi and Stanley who let the game slip away). So we know to be cautiously optimistic, nay FEARFUL of being OVERconfident. I don't know the Senior Circuit this year, all I know is how they were represented at the All-Star game. I don't know if the Rockies are REALLY a team for the ages, or just a big fish in a very little pond. I'll make NO predictions. I'll make NO bets ...... I'm wiser than that. I was talking to a good buddy in LA last night who is a Dodger fan, and he's making no predictions either. And he follows both leagues. He's just hoping that Gagne can show a little of his old self, which he had the honor to see in person a few times. Nope, no disrespect from these lips, I just hope it's a well played series and Red Sox nation can hoist another flag to rally around. It would be hypocritical for me to wish the opponents luck, and so I won't. I won't even say "may the best team win", 'cause all I want is for Boston to be the Hub of the sports world once again. All I'll say is enjoy it while you can. From one who's been there many times, you will never know when it will come around again.

Re: Red Sox Vs Rockies
Yep, just look at the Celtics and Bruins. They MIGHT turn it around this year.
I watched Buckner. That's all I need to say.

Re: Red Sox Vs Rockies
Obviously the REAL Rockies did not show up. Sorry to see that.
What gets me is that Speier comes in with two out and the bases loaded, CAN NOT FIND THE PLATE and walks three guys in (credited to Morales), Herges comes in and gets Youk out. Speier's ERA? Zero. Just not fair. I'm sure this series ain't gonna be no walk in the park. |

Re: Red Sox Vs Rockies
I don't see the benefit of keeping him in, seems smarter to let him rest his arm with 2 innings to go.

I don't either, but I'll defer judgement to the guy who gets paid to do it. He's done a good job so far.

Re: Red Sox Vs Rockies
The main benefit of leaving him in is A: his pitch count was low, and they know for a fact thay will not be bringing him back on short rest, and B: it saves the bullpen. Let's say Schilling gets knocked up tomorrow and they need 4-5 innings from their pen...it is a matter if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Also I think it is kinda important that he exit the game on a positive note, rather than 3 on and no outs.....
That was a beating. Francis looked horrible, left his stuff low and away over the plate...not good against this line up. The Red Soc batters have an abnormal amount of plate dicipline. They practicly force pitchers to throw hit-able pitches. This does 2 things. 1) high pitch counts which get rid of the starter sooner rather than later, and 2) not weanting to walk batters, they throw at the zone, than it's just a matter of fouling off until they see something they like. Combine that with lights out pitching and you have a team that will be hard pressed to lose. I think the lead off shot Pedro did set the tone, and the doubt in the mind of Francis. I was really suprised at how bad he was missing his spots and he could not develop pitching the inside of the plate to the Lefties.....receipe for a beating. I think the 8 days off has set the Rox at a slight disadvantage but not enough to be the main cause for them to lose the series. And Job Buck seriously is an idiot. It's almost painful to listen to. All the mistakes they make on the air.....But it is what it is, and I only care about the W. I think tomorrow will be similar. I think the Rox will score a little more, but the Boston O is just on fire right now. It would take a seriously great Rockies pitching effort to even come close to shutting them down, I just don't see it happening. Remember people this is a NL team we are talking about, it's no secret that AL teams are more powerful and just all around better. Not that NL teams are horrible, but it's rare for a NL team to beat a well playing AL team. I however missed the 8-9th inning. I had my own softball game to go play. I sucked...2 hits 2 rbi 2 runs, than I got thrown out of the game for almost fighting. Apparently I got the boot for yelling at the ump to throw some idiot out of the game. Moron threw at me....I couldn't believe it. First base coach and this guy throws at me, instead of his out....owell, we still won! Do I dare ask for a Red Sox loss? I got tickets to game 5, but if I get my air fare now, and they sweep.....I'm out 600 smackers. Decisions...decisions.... Yankees Suck

Re: Red Sox Vs Rockies
Great analysis James! That was so frick'n painful I just about poked my eyes out with my fork last night. After the 2 day debacle of trying to get tickets online and now this.
Watching those walked runs paying off like a slot machine was beyond painful...I'm blaming it on the rain.

Pins and needles....that's what it's like for me, watching Schill pitch.
Rockies had their chance. This series will be over in 5.

Re: Red Sox Vs Rockies
Oakie was lights out...just unhittable. That has got to be VERY discouraging to the Rockies O, knowing they can't touch the pen.
I LOVED the redemption on their super star. The ump finally got the call right with Holiday going in head first. Yeah Yeah...I know, he was called safe, I never saw his hand touch the plate. Anyhow, I thought that was the play of the game. It's rare to see someone get picked like that. Just shows the mentality is not where it needs to be. To get caught sleeping like that....and Pap does not have a great move over to first....just sleeping. As much as I want to go to game five...I just CAN'T bring myself to hope for a loss. That should be instant and perminant expulsion from ever entering the New England area and from Red Sox Nation....turn your card in to Rem Dawg.....Go be a Cubs fan or something.......rather slit my wrists.....Red Sox in 4. Da Bears.....Da Bulls

Re: Red Sox Vs Rockies
Book your flights. The Rockies even as stiff as they are holding the Sox to 2 is a good sign. Being back at home for the next 3 games should loosen them up and hopefully they relax and start having fun again, could mean 2-3 and then one more win back at Fenway.
What the hell was Holliday thinking? Helton at bat, Holliday on base, could have just as easily ended up at 3-2 instead of 1-2.
