All too funny Tom. My hope is that where you are you have blue skies with considerable light spread all around.

Oh, and have a good holiday weekend as well.

"Well under the "theory" that dark is faster than the light, then the beam from your headlights would not penetrate the dark before you would. "

Ignoring the 'dark theory' which I'll leave alone This statement ignores special relativity which says that the speed of light is constant for all observers, so if you're travelling close to the speed of light and turn on your headlights, the light moves away from you at the speed of light.

If you want to enjoy some additional "theories" on the Speed of Dark go to the link below. Some have put some serious (maybe) thought into the Realm of Darkness. Some funny stuff to. It is only meant to add some humor to your day.

Serious dwellers of the thoughts need to tie a knot in the end of the rope and get a grip.

Re: A REAL Riddle!

okay!..okay! This seems like fun. I've got one, it's pretty old and some of you might have heard before but the first time I heard it it took me like 2 weeks to figure out.

What question you can never give an honest answer to?

Well it looks like the board has been stumped.

My guesses will be:

What does the future hold???

or

How will you leave this life??

Will you still respect me in the morning?

Do you like my mother?

Re: A REAL Riddle!

Trust me, I almost blew a fuse trying to figure that one out.
But after I was told the answer, I almost banged my head to a wall because it was so simple.

The answer is...........

ARE YOU ASLEEP?

I was gonna guess "Are you dead?" But I suppose that's a silly question.

Re: A REAL Riddle!

Not too hard, but fun.

A ship lies at anchor in a harbor. A ladder on the side of the ship has wrungs exactly one foot apart. Currently, there are two wrungs under water, but the tide comes in at one foot per hour. How many wrungs of the ladder will be under water in three hours?

After all the crew and rats have left the ship, and depending on the total tonage of the ship, and the height of the wave chop I would have to say it would still be two rungs.

Re: A REAL Riddle!

I heard something along these lines awhile back on the Car Talk puzzler...

You have 17 identical looking cubes. One of them, however, weighs slightly less than the other 16. Armed with only a pan balance (picture the "scales of justice"), how can you determine which is the lighter cube making only three measurements?

Re: A REAL Riddle!

You take 8 and 8, and if they're both equal, the cube left out is it. However, if one side is lighter, you split it up, 4/4, then 2/2, then 1/1. But that's four steps. Maybe after you have two, you drop them both off a building and the last to land is it?

Re: A REAL Riddle!

Why do you park on a driveway, and drive on a parkway?

Re: A REAL Riddle!

Because your driveway is the path to taking a drive and the parkway is the path you take to go park. LOL

Yes I was there also.

But if you discount the first try then it would be 4 weighs minus 1 lucky random pick equals 3. Done

Re: A REAL Riddle!

Two piles of eight and one pile of one.
Put the 2 eight cubes piles on the scale.
Balance = discard those 16, 17th is heavy.
No balance, discard the light 8 and the one extra.
Take 8 remaining make 2 piles of 3 and one pile of 2.
Put the 2 piles of 3 on scale.
Balance = discard those 6 and weigh the 2 left.
Non balance = discard the 4 and put 1 cube each side of scale, leave 1 off.
Balance = 1 off is heavy.
Non Balance = heavy.
