Re: Put A Face To The Name

About 10 years ago a friend made a drawing of me for a book. I still look pretty much the same:

(Sorry, after multiple tries I can't get the image to show up here. It's the same one in my avatar.)

As far as the basement here goes, I am a Christian; but that doesn't mean I don't like to have fun. I've been to Skatopia 3 different times (google skatopia). That doesn't mean I'm down w/ anarchy and setting people's cars on fire, I just love skating. Brewce Martin, the guy that owns Skatiopia, is a borderline sociopath; but him and I actually managed to get along pretty well in spite of our opposite views. I've never seen anyone skate so fast and so insanely. I kind of owe him my backside grind in the deep end of the punisher bowl over there. He pushed me pretty hard. Never got it front side, but that's not for lack of trying!! Came close, but just didn't have it in me that day.

My backside grind in the punisher. Its a 13' deep wood bowl w/ 2 1/2' of vert and no flat bottom. Just getting into it is pretty scary. (This pic doesn't do that pool justice)

I have a friend that I skate w/ that's always doing something crazy. This is one of his home grown water slides. I wish I had a pic of the whole thing but I can't find one, it (was, its tore down now) about 2 1/2 stories tall.

This is my son and I (about 2008ish). I was explaining to him how to hold your head because one guy got knocked out when he got to the ramp at the bottom, it fires you up pretty hard and fast and if you aren't holding your head up you might get knocked out from hitting your head when you transition up the ramp. Basically you just lather up your back w/ dish soap or you'll get some road rash from the slide on the way down and go for it.

And this is me about to land in a kiddie pool after the ramp at the bottom.

Oh, I have heard tales of Brewce. I don't know if I could go to one of those parties, I think I would die.... ... I am nowhere near that good in pools or vert. I'll zip around a small pool for a bit, but I rather cruising down the street, hitting gaps.

edit:

here's the biggest local park.

On the right, next to the bank, is a 14 foot deep pool. You don't see many guys my age in there, mostly older guys (sometimes rocking the single tail boards). They'd be blasting US Bombs or Pennywise.

There is also a 5 foot deep pool to the left of that, where you usually see the BMX guys, and then there's a smaller pool from the old park, that you see guys like me rolling around in.

I watched Ryan Sheckler (pro, 17 years old at the time), launch out of the smaller pool over 15 decks one time.
