The Playoffs
It's that great time of year again. This for me is the best time of the year. More than any other sport, baseball is my favorite!
So we have the playoffs again. As you are seeing (if you are watching) it's not the best team that wins, but the best team that wins when the pressure is really on. For the NL: Dodgers are going to stomp over the Cubbies. I am a fan of Lou and I do like Jim Edmonds, but that team is choking now. To get whooped like that...well, I feel for their fans. Brewers have no business in the post season...Ryan Bruan or not. Fat ass at first is no impressive to me and the rest of the team is maybe a 500 ball club. Phillies are the chit. Dodgers and phillies in 6 with phillies taking it. End of the day, they just have better pitching and Row Ho. I like that dude. AL: TB and the White Sox....sigh....I'm glad the white sox are playing them first. Those guys are scrappy and talented. They lack the veteran leadership to go all the way. That don't mean they can't do it. I have watched that team all year long, and while I hate the china men at 2nd and BJ Upton with a passion they can contribute. They all do and that is why they are where they are. White sox will loose this series, they are not a next round calibur team this year. Red Sox and Angeles: Watch this series as this will be the best baseball played this year. Now, those of you who remember my little playoff rants over the past few years know I have a lot of pessimism towards my beloved RedSox. It's the years of painful losses. This team........I dunno. It would take something really special to defend their title. The pitching has been fairly erratic. I hate Wakefield...always have. Byrd is terrible. THe chinamen is doing decent this year, but he causes alot of work for the bullpen. Lester has been lights out, Beckett has been maybe half the pitcher he was last year...and that is being nice. As for the Angles I do not think they are a world series calibur team. THey are damn good, and I love mike Socia but this team needs alot of momentum to win at this level. They have failed quite a bit over the last few years. As for me, I need to go clean out my truck because I am heading down to Anaheim for game 2. I have tix for the second row field level between first and the foul pole. Angle fans are a little nutz, and they do not like Red Sox fans....at all. Anyhow wich me luck!! So if your into baseball who do you see making it to the show?

Re: The Playoffs
I would like to see an Angeles/Dodgers or Red Sox/Dodgers World Series. I would most ike to see the Angeles win it. I like Mike Socia too. My wife, and her friends, had a crush on him when he was younger, skinnier, and played for the Dodgers.
We went to a game with the Red Sox awhile back and, you are right, the fans give the people wearing Red Sox stuff a really hard time. There is a food court in the outfield and some of the fans were continually yelling some nasty stuff at the Red Sox bullpen. If the Angeles do not make it, I would like the Dodgers to win playing the Red Sox. It would be nice to see Joe Torre win after he left the Yankees when they were close a couple times. I think that would be a tough pill for New York to swallow. Also, I think it would be nice to have the tension between Manny Ramirez and the Red Sox.

Re: The Playoffs
James, this week has to be real interesting for you.
The Sox are a different team in the playoffs. Last years match-up against the Rockies reminds me of the Angels this year...they both looked unbeatable, but the Sox do it in the end. I wouldn't ordinarily care about the Dodgers, but with the bad taste that Manny left I can honestly say I hope they get taken out early....ONLY for the fact the he's on the team. |

Re: The Playoffs
Oh no. I'd very much like to see Manny come to Fenway as a Dodger. Just as good as seeing the Yanks here in October. Just not the same without them.

I would expect that from you Mags!!! As much as I hate the Yankees I can appreciate REAL fans of a ball club. My voice is gone, I have a hang over and am exhausted after that unbelievable game last night. I have many cell phone pix and I'll post a few. I rewatched the game on my dvr and saw myself and my buddy twice, My kids think I am a TV star now!! Gonna eat something before I yak again!!

That was an average game for both teams, they both have played much better ball this season. My nerves are shot and I have given myself a cold. Tonights game is a must win for both obviously but for the Sox, because I don't wanna go back to Anahiem. Make no mistake, I will go. But would prefer not to. I'd like the sox to get the same rest time as the Rays. Rays are a far better team than the Angels so if the sox win tonight, they will really have their hands full. They are a world champion team this year. Go Sox

Re: The PlayoffsQuote:
I'd love to see Curt make a start and just drill manny in the head than leave the game. I'd fly out there just for that. Well that and a some damage at Cask n flagons. All my buddies are Dodger fans and I love to give them chit about how National league isn't very good baseball. Dodgers and sox would be a hell of show down. I am loosing my faith in the phillies after watching that division series. That was terrible ball. Everyone thinks manny is SO great...and he is, but not that great. He can't do what he is doing in the American league. National league pitching is something very different that American.

Lester right now with 107 pitches and no signs of wear...Josh who? I was really bummed over the WS loss, the Rays have been a real pain this season. The main reason I wanted the WS to win...woulda been great razzin' Killer during the series...

Ya know there are few things in life that are really REALLY great. Family...little kids...new house....But watching the Red Sox win is just.....I don't know........it's just better.
Thank God this one didn't go into extras...I could feel my heart attack flaring up...again. Go Sox

Re: The Playoffs
I really need to stay out of the bars.....I have seemed to talked myself into game 4 of the Dodgers Phills game at ghetto ass Dodger stadium on Monday. I hate driving down there, but I can root for the Dodgers in an effort to bring Boston and L.A. together. All I want is to see Manny get drilled...and not no change up either. I', talking about a Manny Del Carmen 98 mph fast ball up and in. They can have the trophy, just give me the K.O..
I ran into two people I haden't seen in 10 years at this one place. Amazing what 10 years can do to a female's body.....sigh..... Go Sox

Re: The Playoffs
Well....at least they got as far as they did. I am not suprised but still disapointed. With fat ass completely and totally useless, elsbury is just a few pitches from a for sure out, tek whos best chance of getting on base is a drill shot to the head and Cora who is about as rusty as they get...I am surprised they got past Anahiem. Today game, they were simply out matched. Outmatched in every aspect of the game. The by far better team won and I am most confident they will win the ALCS in Boston, as Wakefield is about as bad as Byrd, than Dice K again but his number will get rung sooner or later. TB is just a better team this year. Fat ass has got to go, he is no longer a feared hitter, nor is he productive. Injury or not players must perform at this level and at this time of year. The Red Sox did a very poor job of managing Garza. He's good, but he's not great. Unless the Sox can turn this thing around mid series (which is almost impossible (except 04)) you can bet your hard earned dollar on the rays for the 08 champs. Whatever National league team makes doesn't have a prayer.

Re: The Playoffs
I think it will go to game 7. The major pressure is on the Rays right now. Major....pressure...Repeat of '04 and '07? That would be something. ESPN said that Francona is 8-1 when facing elimination.

Re: The Playoffs
Well don't I feel like a complete and total asshole. Game 7 is somehow a reality now. I still haven't decided on exactly how this happened, but I honestly thing at this point the Sox finally started playing almost decent ball. Not great ball, but not like games 2-5. THat is not the Redsox I have watched all year. To see them finally get a handfull of nut sac and play ball like a real ball player does....well, it's just nice to see.
I will not be watching game 7 at home because my mouth is just too foul for my wife and little kids to hear. Going to the bar to let my pent up rage out on their tv screen. What a turn around....Fuk it, lets see them finish the job and send that green team to their vacations a little early!!
