Phone Harassment

I would like to hear if this particular guy or business keeps calling anyone else here. I have a sneaking suspicion it's the same guy over and over.

Starts like this. Out of Area phone call (should tip me off right there not to answer it), I couldn't see it this time on my wireless phone in my house. I don't even answer the damn thing anymore, but the wife and kids are away this weekend and I thought it might be them.

Anywho, answers "hey Kent, how's it going?" Good I reply "Do you know who this is? Recognize the voice?" Well, it does sound familiar to me, I reply. I've got relatives all over, so who knows who it is right?

Then the guy goes into his sales pitch "We got some great tools on sale this weeek and I'd like to tell you about them"

This call if I remember correctly I think comes from the southwest or the south.

It's the same guy, I swear it is. Just relentless. Not every day, or week, last 5 years I've been telling this guy stop calling. We're on the do not call list and blah blah blah, but no way to trace it, no way to know who it is, they wait until our fire is out, then they call again.

It's like McGraw Hill Sweets. Those a-holes just keep coming too.

GAH! OK now I feel better LOL.

I've got a guy that calls a few times a month peddling Sawzall blades. I've bought some from him in the past (they were good, and they were cheap). I don't know how many blades he thinks I use, but I'm still working through the original batch. M&M Contractor Sales is the name of the people.

Re: Phone Harassment

I think I know this guy, they are out of Arizona. He used to call me 3 times a month. I guess he got tired and moved on after each time he called I would tell him to hold on, I want to place a big order with you, but I need to get my inventory sheets. Then I would put the phone down and go on about what I was doing.

Re: Phone Harassment

hehe, yeah. He just caught me off guard. I forget about him, then he calls again when I least expect it. Last time he called, I thought he said he was from AZ or Las Vegas or somewhere in the SW vicinity.

Just bugged me for him to call me on Saturday at 5 pm. At least call during the week. Maybe it was king of drywall looking to sell me a pump.

Re: Phone Harassment

My problem telemarketer was from CA. She would call on an average of 5 times a day saying her SEO company would get my webpage on top of Google and Yahoo. Sometimes she would leave a message but other times she wouldn't. I had gotten to the point of not even answering the phone with this out of area number. She has finally gotten the point. She now only calls once every two to three weeks. Talk about desperate for phone sale.

Re: Phone Harassment

My husband got a call from a tool company - when he told her she needed to call my number, she didn't want to because she was accustomed to speaking with men because they were the ones that knew about tools and chemicals and the like. Husband informed her that she was quite wrong in our case and to call me. Phone never rang (which was probably good for her)

My favorite calls are the chemical sales folks who can't tell you what's in the wonder cleaner they're trying to sell you!

I know that guy! I HATE him. He acts like he knows you. He started calling when I got A D&B number. I started hanging up on him and he quit calling.

Re: Phone Harassment

Not sure if its the same guy but Ive had some guy call me about tools as well. Its strange because they call my home number. My business number is the only one listed for me and its all over the net. Home number isnt even listed under my name so no idea how they get that

Re: Phone Harassment

I made up a story so I could get a return phone number which is the 520 number and I called him back. He answered that one.

Cinderella LOL! Maybe he's Cinderella. I'm getting tired of this guy. I hope the fcc gets him. I've sent in the information again. Who knows, maybe I'll get the 500 bucks they claim I can get.

Re: Phone Harassment

Let me explain how they get the information to call you guys:

Down at your local supply house, the phone rings and a man or woman tells whoever answers that they are an out of town GC looking for subs for an in town job. They ask if you have a list, or even just a couple of names. Morons do actually give them names, and one of our outside salesmen actually faxed them our (internal) list of customer cell phone numbers. You talk about some Mad Mofos! He just about (and should have) got his ass kicked by 100 people.

The problem is that we get dozens of legit requests for referalls a day. I can generally smoke them out with one or two questions, but in general I just quit giving referals to random phone calls. I ask that they fax me a request and project information on their letterhead, or ask for their number and then have my contractors call them.

JUNKBUSTERS Anti-Telemarketing Script

Quote:
Telemarketers always use a script: why shouldn't you?
Quote:
What to say when they call if you don't want junk calls

Every time you get a call you consider junk, just ask the questions in this script. If they answer no, you may be able to sue them. Be sure to put your phone number on the National Do-Not-Call registry by visiting http://donotcall.gov or by calling 1-888-382-1222.
The script has 2 versions...
- 8 questions ~ to just end the madness
- 15 questions ~ to drive THEM insane

It's NOT a download or anything fancy for a computer/answering system ...an actual script ~ you ask THEM a barrage of questions.

Re: Phone Harassment

I've had the same type of calls... I think I've had the tools one, and I know I've had the blades one! It's weird that I'll tell him no, and that I don't know him... then a few days later he'd try the same pitch on me again!!!

It's weird you haven't told them to put your number on the "Do Not Call List"

Next time he calls - and he will - tell them DO NOT CALL.

Re: Phone Harassment

I have told this guy over and over and over and over. Take me off your list. I am on the do not call list. All my numbers are. I have recently started sending stuff to the FCC, so we'll wait and see. Haven't heard anything yet for any of them. Not much of a deterrence if they don't do anything about it.
